Sort of correct, they slow down your digestion so you get full really quickly, if I were to have a sandwich at lunchtime I’d be full for the rest of the day and not want to eat anything for tea. I’m not sure if it’s the injections changing your mindset or just will power alone, for me being a tight git I didn’t want to shell out £200+ a month and and not really go for it. Oh Asda online doctor regularly send you 10% discount codes ready for when you re order 👍
A change to her/our eating habits would be good. I've been telling her for years that our dinner portion sizes are probably too large most of the time. But she doesn't eat anything all day (we think she's ADHD, one symptom being that she just completely forgets to eat anything) - then have a huge dinner at like 8pm after putting little one to bed. And she wonders why she doesn't lose weight because she only had one meal that day, but as I say, I think it's too much too late in the day. She also reckons if she eats breakfast she is hungry again by lunchtime, but if she doesn't, she isn't. I've tried to tell her that hunger is just the feeling of fat cells being burned. 😄

My wife has just bought some kind of weight-loss injections. I was struggling to get my head around this concept. She said more than one of her friends are on them! She moaned at me for not being 'supportive' but it just seems way over-the-top to me. She is overweight but I wouldn't say she's obese or anything. Maybe I'm old-fashioned but what's wrong with going for a run instead of stabbing yourself with a needle?? 😳

Anyone here done anything like that? Sorry I don't know what the injections are specifically, I switched off at that point. She said something about it originally being intended for diabetes but they spotted the weight-loss properties as a kind of side effect so now people buy them for that instead. Wouldn't be my cup of tea - I don't like needles!
In all seriousness, going for a run is good for all sorts of reasons, but it's not a particularly effective way to lose weight.
Given the health implications of being overweight, I'd say that anything that works should be encouraged. I'm not sure that 'how' is particularly important as long as it's safe.
Gotta love that big food/pharma business model - invent stuff to encourage overeating, then invent stuff (and charge you) to take it off. Simples...

I've decided (after seeing the results first hand from at least 3 people at work) to fill in the paperwork for those diet injections.

Done the reading you can lose up to 22% of your body weight. (Even 10% would be nice) And from what everyone is saying is they really reduce your hunger.. considering the meds I'm on increase my hunger and once I start snacking I don't stop I think just going down to 3 meals a day (instead of 3 meals plus snacks) will make a massive difference and if they help me do that it will be worth it

I met with a friend today who had gained a lot of weight after her Mum sadly passed away. She was really comfort eating and couldn't stop. Hated herself. 7 weeks on the injections and she's a pound off two stone down. She can't believe how her relationship with food has changed - mainly because she simply doesn't get hungry so doesn't think about it constantly. In fact she needs to be careful as she's not eating enough really. She is delighted with the impact and worth every penny. Probably saving a fortune on food too!

She wasn't eligible for NHS - think you need to be diabetic?

Yeah I didn't even bother looking on the NHS, I'm not even pre diabetic (which surprised me lol) but I decided the amount the injections cost I easily spend per month in our work tuck shop on crisps and chocolate

That's what my mate said aswell she has to remember to eat

I mean if that is the case I don't mind at all. I wish I didn't get hungry so soon

I did a long day at work the other day and tried no crisps. I had porridge at 9 thinking I'd held off. By 12 I was dying for lunch so had that by 5 I had My dinner .. just too early. But least no crisps to pad it out. With the injections I shouldn't feel that hunger is the theory anyways

I've not looked into these injections at all, don't think I know anyone on them or heard anything about them. Are the results/trials far enough ahead to see what happens once the injections stop? Guessing there a suppressant? My only concern doing this would be similar to slimfast/slimming world etc. I might be massively wrong.

The battle (might be the wrong word) with eating and controlling calories is so consuming when you're trying to lose weight. It's been spoken about a lot, I struggle too, so I guess this will help, just wondering if it's a shorter term fix?

Basically yes a lot regain the weight. Not all and it is about trying to make better choices which you maintain but I think the appetite/cravings return. Hopefully enough keep the weight off as the increase in self-esteem plus hopefully being able to exercise more will all help that.

Good luck. Her friend was taking Wegovy and felt really sick on it - so they don't suit everyone.

Feeling hungry constantly must be awful. I'm a grazer so not often hungry. Yesterday I had a very light breakfast and then was out for about 4 hours. I was properly hungry and dived into the chocolate and biscuits as they were a quick fix. I'd hate to feel like that all the time.

The idea with these is you don't count calories, or cut out food groups you just aren't as hungry , you get full quicker so your body naturally drops the weight

Now when you come off your stomach shrinks after a week normally so that helps

My personal take (no science here) is that my weight is very constant. It's pretty much been the same for 5 years. Just changes were it is (tummy , legs etc) so if I say dropped 2 stone I should be able to maintain that

It's very frustrating, but the worst is I can't stop at one. It's either no crisps or a lot of crisps. Soon as I get that hit of flavour I want another and another. So it's either drive myself mad by not eating them or try this to get rid of the hunger

Yes, I'm very similar. I think my change is not buying the nice treats, replacing them with healthier choices and exercise almost as a reason to not eat the good stuff(unhealthier treats) in order to try lose/not put weight on.

I'm always hungry as well but I never snack between meals really - just store up that hunger until I have an absolutely massive dinner portion at 8pm. 🤦🏻‍♂️

Hopefully I reap the benefits of my wife being on the injections as I'm convincing her to cook smaller portions than we have done. Problem with cooking when you're starving is that you will make more than you really need.

An injection isn’t going to stop your cravings. I suspect you aren’t even as hungry as you think you are and have just got into the cycle of having crisps, possibly through boredom. Studies have also shown that drinking more water suppresses the ‘hunger’ feeling and is proven to cut snacking. Personally I would explore all these before going down the injection route.

That's the point they do stop the cravings, the people I work with don't snack anymore because they don't get the cravings, or hunger

That feel fuller for longer and in turn don't have the cravings

That's what all the studies have shown that cravings reduce

But you can’t take the jabs forever and what happens when you stop?

2 years is recommended however there is talk of yes you could take indefinitely

As I stated in a previous message the idea is say be on for a year. Lose whatever and then my weight has been very stable for about 5 years . It doesn't go up or down so get it down and then maintain. As I wasn't putting on weight.

This jab raises your blood sugar which reduces craving drastically

Have a read into them.
