LIV Golf

Is there any statistics to show how significant it is that any tour including LIV has brought younger people to golf compared to local clubs and local pros
Highly unlikely any Tour draws people into thinking I’d like to golf a go. To most outside the game watching Pro golf is boring at best and LIV as a format would just make that more confusing for a casual observer.

Biggest drawer to start playing imagine now is people being invited to a TopTracer style range by mates or family and gaming natural progression from there. Can I prove that? absolutely not but it’s how my wife got intrigued to try and now she enjoys a game she always claimed was for old people. It also seems a lot more likely than someone watching any sort or Tour golf thinking oh go on then.

A couple of things could now happen, restoring normality and a possible reduction in the imbalance between the two established tours. The PGA Tour can reduce its eye-watering prize funds and the DP World Tour doesn't feel the need to offer our best 10 players to the PGA Tour. The threat has gone as the Saudi snake crawls back under its rock.

Yep - spot on , along with local pros going into schools , the get into golf schemes they do

Like I said, will it be significant enough to matter?

There are plenty of statistics that show people were watching LIV golf and attending events that were new to golf, and obviously of a younger demographic.

As they care so much about growing the game and not just about the money. It will be great to see the Australian and South African players go play on their domestic tours rather than trying to get back onto the PGAT or DPWT.

Personally I think things like top golf has been better for bringing the game to a younger/wider audience.

TGL could make the same claim as LIV about bringing the game to a younger audience.
I’d argue TGL has done more to get people to turn the TV off. Watching a bunch of millionaires hitting at a screen is the ultimate in golfing boredom for me 😂

The crowds at LIV events are noticeably younger, as is the general fanbase.

TGL - yeah that clown show has had it. It was only created to line the pockets of some of the top golfers on the PGAT to keep them onside - and now that's no longer an issue, it has no purpose.

While I respect your opinion I totally disagree with you (I’m not a fan of TGL either though).
To say it’s just lined the pockets of a few players where as LIV has grown the game and all on a shoe string 😂.
What will happen to the teams now I wonder?
I was looking forward to Hufflepuff versus Gryfindor

I can’t stand TGL but to use that argument knowing LIV created a tour and got players through lining the pockets to the sum of multi millions of dollars of “some” top players means your argument loses any credibility.

It's weird, I get bored of TGL and rarely watch it but I'll watch some random on YouTube playing a round on their simulator without any issue.

Yassir has stepped down as chairman.

New board being announced today.

Liv Golf has 8 months to find new investment.

Literally in 1 month its gone from unlimited funds to fighting for its life
Can't see them finding new funding, not with the loses it has been making. If they do find some to keep it going the money is going to be way, way down imho.

I wonder if Rahm will now feel like paying those DPWT fines.

That’s issue for me. I genuinely don’t see where they’re getting that level of funding considering how much they were losing every event. Even if they get a backer, it’s got to considerably lessen the prize funds and do away with player contracts , which ultimately is why people were playing there in the first place.

If only Yasir hadn’t overvalued LIV during their talks with the PGAT.

With the teams being worth billions. The answer must be to sell them and pool the money with additional sponsorship to keep the lights on?
