Do you have any examples of people refusing to take up golf because of dress code?

My biggest golf irritation is having a very makeable birdie putt and walking off the green with a bogey. Happened yesterday.

Why not? It is every members' responsibility to uphold the club rules. Unless of course you are referring to being a visitor at said course.
