LIV Golf

You'll now see the story being pedalled is that LIV is being funded through to the end of the year then shutting down.*

This is simply those people that have made themselves look stupid, trying to make themselves look less stupid.

Fantastic few days work from the corrupt golf media.

Like I said, it was worth noting that Scott posted a link to a podcast on his Linkedin account while the majority of the golfing world was being wishfully gullible on the demise of LIV. Why would he go on record saying what the merits of LIV were if he had lost his job?

Ultimately there could be many reasons he’d state benefits while in the process of losing his job especially contractually when it comes to media facing statements. That in itself wouldn’t be unusual and would be perfectly normal especially if his contract has caveats built into how he represents the company and any payments that could be affected by it.

The email reads like an AI generate hype text, don’t particularly read very well or confirm anything beyond the current season.

That story could still very well be true, what you’ve shown here is an email that’s directly to the players stating the season continues. It doesn’t state in uncertain terms LIV will be here beyond that.

There’s no smoke without fire, can blame the media all you like but until an official statement is released by LIV that it will continue well beyond what that email states, then nothing has been confirmed.

Personally speaking I’m non fussed from a golfing perspective if it continues or not, I watch it when it’s on but don’t go out of my way to. I have nothing against it or its format, but if other golf is on TV at the same time then it’s the last one I’d choose to put on and I think that’s half the issue they’re having.

It might well be true that LIV is not getting funded beyond the end of the year, but the message from LIV is business as usual - so take that as their official position. My point is that the golf media will lean heavily into the story that there's no LIV beyond this season to try and cover up some pretty erroneous reporting over the last few days. Actually, make that the last 5 years.

So what about the funding after this season ?

If PIF stop funding who fills that huge gap

Is this the golfing equivalent of a football manager getting a vote of confidence from the board? We all know what happens the following week!

An internal email is not and can never be used to claim official position. Business doesn’t work that way, especially not businesses that are media driven and reliant on broadcasting and external revenue that provides their players a base of play.

I understand you’re defensive of LIV but this offers nothing beyond this season and to claim it does could be argued it’s equally as lazy as the reporting you claim.

I’m not fussed either way but if they want to show there will be LIV golf beyond this season they need to clarify it’s funding and how it will continue . In this current state there is nothing they can offer anyone to attract new players and will lose their big names as it’s not offering any assurances beyond the next 4 months.

As @Neilds has just put it that comes across as the vote of confidence often seen elsewhere before a big sacking.

On the statement, he will be contractually obliged to say what he has said, that’s just standard business.
Would of been good if they came out with something a bit more concrete regarding the future.

I hope it does continue personally, I enjoy the quicker format and it has to be more appealing to younger kids looking at getting into the game.

What if they don't?

Then it continues on 🤷‍♂️

But it was just a simple question

If PIF do stop funding LIV who makes up the shortfall

The email is talking short term , anyone reading that will ask what about after this season ?

It’s not just been social media rumours this time , financial publications with no sporting links have been reporting the potential stop of financial injections from PIF

The Tour only survives because of that funding if it runs out they don’t have enough revenue to support events

So how do they bridge the gap to keep it going

"as planned"

That means no change doesn't it?

I've been saying this for a few years and it's not sinking in with some people, what the media tell you isn't always the truth.

No it literally doesn’t mean that. It’s a 2 word exert and is meaningless without full context. My work always goes ahead as planned , until it doesn’t and something changes. Until they release a full statement detailing funding goes well beyond the years events “as planned “ It’s a nothing statement.

That tweet even confirms no closure anytime Soon this week goes ahead as planned. That’s incredibly short term in its context, if they want to quash rumours they need to release their long term plan! To read it any other way is blinkered and understandable as you don’t want it to be the end. I’m not and won’t be convinced until they release these long term strategy, I’d say may others are like me and this doesn’t do anything to give players or staff long term stability and can damage their product further.

I always find it a bit strange that you constantly use social media to ‘prove’ your point that social media isn’t always right. How come your social media sources are more informed than everyone else’s?🤔

What we've just witnessed is an all out attack on LIV (again) from the PGAT aligned golf media - and it will continue.

If you look away from those sources, there's enough information there to come sort of balanced view.

This might be the last year of LIV. It might also be the last year of the PGAT as we know it. Nothing is certain, nobody has a crystal ball. I'm just gonna enjoy the golf later today, and for the rest of the season and then we'll see what happens.

Whatever happens, the players will be okay, no worries about where they might be playing next. Have you seen the earnings each season 😳? They have a bit to fall back on. If they never play a pro tournament again, they won't be short of a few quid.

If I was the CEO of a company and knew said company was going to fold, whether that be today or in 6 months time the one thing I would guarantee is I would publicly be backing them 100%.
How many companies would be willing to employ a new CEO who had publicly criticised his last employer?

Sorry Dan, I mean Mel nothing to see here apart from normal top level standard response you would get from any company.

Since when was the Financial Times aligned to the PGAT ?
