So Tyrell will carry sponsorship within the Callaway group, without losing his arrangement with Ping.
For example, Tyrell may carry some Topgolf sponsorship
 
Yes, looks like a clear change of strategy from LIV, and probably a good one to be fair. Establishing themselves as a clear second division, going for the likes of McKibbin rather than still trying to sign top level ones, could be a good move. Is this what taking Norman off the scene has allowed, where revenge or defeat of the PGAT was clouding his judgement? If this allows them to pension off the old brigade, it could make LIV competitive, and actually move it above the European Tour. It still has the problem of tournaments that nobody cares about winning, but more signings like this, and wins could properly be claimed to be worthwhile. I would also read it as a sign that maybe an agreement is close, which could include some formalising of LIV as the PGAT's second tour with a path into the PGAT and even to the elevated events for the top half dozen. I doubt McKibbin would have made this move if they werent in touching distance of giving him a bridge to the big time.

Yes I agree, this strategy makes sense.
They have more than enough star power now considering the size of their fields.
Bolstering the rear guard with talented young players from other tours/college and in time moving out the old guard is defo the right thing to do.

Everyone (Including Rory) talk extremely highly of the new Liv CEO who replaced Norman, that is their most significant signing of this off season for sure.

That was one of the most dishonest phrases used in the whole LIV launch.
They carefully avoided explaining that in the phrase being parroted by the early recruits (GMac apparently has had all mirrors in his home removed), The Game didnt mean Golf as people took it to, but meant 'Earnings of the worlds top golfers and of the investors backing their tournaments'. Maybe like with Norman, they can retire it now.

Yes it was overused by Liv in the early days for sure.

However I didn't mention Liv.

So while the public criteria haven't changed (much), it would certainly appear that the secret criteria upon which invites are given have.

Following on from what I posted in the pro golf thread, the USGA have released their exemption criteria for the US Open and...

...there are direct exemptions for LIV, both into the US Open field and through to final qualifying this year; with additional exemptions next year.
