LIV Golf

If he’s happy to cozy up to the Trumps, selling out to the LiV isn’t a surprise. But it’s some U-turn from his views when LiV started. And as we know, changing your opinion isn’t allowed.

Suddenly signing YouTubers is a good thing! And one that struggles to break 75 should fit right in.

I wonder what Guy will do given he has been the brains of Ricks operations. Rick isn’t the sharpest tool in the YouTube shed.
It's probably more about Rick's nr 3 million subscribers that is the draw rather than Rick's sub standard Pro golf ?

At least we now know why he wasn't invited to the PGA Tours creator classic event

Greg was an obstruction to any deal.

I may be wrong but there is nothing to suggest that Liv is going anywhere soon.

The guy who replaced Greg is better qualified than Greg and Jay put together to push a tour forward.

No laying up also said recently that Callaway are looking to add their own team with callaway staff players.

We have been hearing about the likes of Callaway and Nike etc adding their own teams for years - it’s not materialised in any shape

The biggest stories when it comes to LIV are when they play in the Majors

BDC in the Us Open last year as an example, the headlines from the tour are mainly at the start when they used to get some big names in , when the majors come around and that’s about it

Next season a lot of those that went at the start will have their contracts done , so what happens then .

The main thing with all the tours is waiting for the next big players to come through - on the other tours that’s mainly from their pathways , what are LiV going to do to bring the next big players through

There is imo going to be some events in the future that’s going to be a bit like the old WGC’s - maybe one a month outside the months there is a major - those events will have maybe the top 50 players , the events will be funded by PIF and they will prob be held across the world - that’s imo what will replace LIV

They are already going after the young players.

Last year they signed Surratt who was one of the best college players and was going to the PGA Tour

They have just signed Frederik Kjettrup, again one of the most promising young golfers.

They are going for McKibbon at 22 years old.

It's wrong to think their strategy has just been to sign the Rahms and DeChambeau's of this world.

That’s not a pathway though is it

Trying to grab random am’s isn’t going to bring players though

And Frederik Kjettrup, ? 25 - turned pro and was playing on a minor Pro tour as he didn’t qualify for PGAT

Don't think he will make difference ???? oh wait

Shiels, who is the world’s most followed golf content creator with 2.9million YouTube subscribers, is joining the Saudi-backed breakaway league as an official ambassador.

The three million seems historical though, and not representative of his position relative to competitors, nor the true 'following' and viewing of his vids in recent years.

Whats gets on peoples wick, with the content nothing special and maybe only mediocre at best now, is his own view of what he is doing, and presumably he was referring to this development when he said : “we have got some outrageous, incredible, mind-blowing plans for 2025. And that is not an exaggeration.”
At lot of minds are not blown, other than maybe his own, and it may have been an exageration.

And yet his videos get millions of views. 👀

His 10 shot lead videos with Pros are some of the highest viewed in golf you Tube history..

His channel historically is the most viewed on You Tube each year, The most viewed in 2024 was Bryson who also represents Liv, so I'd say Liv now has You Tube Golf covered.

Pro golf watch figures are going through the floor, yet golf you Tube views are going through the roof.

It's a very clever move by Liv.

Of course if Bryson was still on the PGA Tour he couldn't have a You Tube Channel because they would own his media rights.

The Golf landscape is changing and the way people view golf is changing, Liv seems to be recognising that with moves like this and the PGA Tour need to as well.

If a tour needs a you tube golfer to get more eyes on the tour then does that speak volumes about the product on offer

I have no doubt it’s good for Shiels financially - will it increase views on LIV , maybe not

Not just one of them but TEN..

Does that speak volumes about the state their in?

No idea what the PGAT has done but then this isn’t about the PGAT 🤷‍♂️

You appear to be under some impression that I’m a fan of the PGAT

I guess they didn’t do it with a media fanfare

That’s right! And if a company has an advertising budget, and a marketing department, and these work purely to “get more eyes” on its product…etc etc etc 🙄

I know you like the DPWT Phil, and with Ricks involvement with LIV, and the LIV players increasingly crossing over between the tours, there should be a knock on benefit for the European Tour as well. (y)
