I've watched the liv highlights, not bad viewing, not much coverage of the 59 though

But I've also watched ET and pgat highlights this weekend and the women's Asia Pacific amateur championship, did you know a 16 year old lassie went round in 63 last night, some talent

It's all decent golf to watch

This is a major problem with the LiV supporters. The cannot accept any criticism of the product.
They will jump to its defence no matter how the opinion is presented or was formed.
Its worse on other socials where the bots will pile on.

Yesterday someone commented that only 6500 people were watching Rahm hit his first shot on LiV. A simple fact, but the bots piled on and attacked, with lots of whataboutery and unrelated nonsense.

They appear very blinkered and take their defence of the tour very seriously.

When I was watching there was a pretty steady 16k watching on the YouTube stream.

I think most supporters of something will defend it, I don’t do Twitter or look at the chat in the live stream so I wouldn’t know what is being said. I only really care about the product that is infront of me.

No problem.

It's the final day scores that count, so the first two rounds scores from the highest player wouldn't be in the total.

Likewise, the 3 lowest scores from today will add to the team total - regardless of who shoots them, so Ortiz could add to the team total score today while Niemann might not..

Lowest individual scores per day then, rather than lowest 3 in total for the first 2 days plus all of them on the 4th.

Majesctics really did have a stinker of a day yesterday didn’t they!

On the flip side you’ve got the anti LIV brigade that just look to post anything negative on social media.
Log on just to argue 🤷‍♂️

Yeah, that’s the correct way to describe it.

The Majesticks have a big problem, they need to improve their roster but who’s going to make way with 3 players owning the team?
Stenson and Poults are the two strongest of those 3 captains, Horsfield is steady but hardly played last year.
They just don’t have the quality player that can compete regularly like a lot of the other teams have. That’s only going to be highlighted this year with the players that have joined .

To balance things a little, the pga comp is a pro am, I think, over 2 courses, definitely. I know everyone likes to make a fuss of Pebble Beach but this tournament is Mickey Mouse. I tried watching it last night but quickly gave up.

Think this week is a snapshot of tour golf going on

The event at Pebble Beach has a number of top players but it’s going to lose viewers because of players that have left

LIV events will have their core viewers but are just not picking up those viewers that are not watching the PGAT anymore - if you didn’t watch it last year there isn’t many that will watch it this year

The split has cost golf viewership , people will be switching off for multiple reasons - not being able to see all the best players , not liking the format production etc and some had enough of the money grab and the nonsense being spouted by many

The whole golf outside the majors has been diluted , the product hasn’t got better imo it’s worse

just look at the numbers at the event in Mexico and watching - it’s embarrassingly low , and the crowds at PB and the viewing figures won’t be much better I suspect

There aren’t many winners outside a handful of players getting very rich

Tour golf is a mess

I appreciate this

No growing the game rubbish

"I'm really looking forward to the new challenge and next chapter of my career as I team up with Martin and the Cleeks," said Meronk.

"While I appreciate this decision didn't come easy, joining LIV Golf is a very special moment for my career.

"The 2023 season made me feel that, despite all of my successes, 287 days a year which I spent away from home is too many.

"The LIV schedule gives me more time with my loved ones and more space to work on every aspect of my game."

Lets get back to the golf on this golf forum 🙏
Going to be very hard for Niemann to back up a 59 with another low round tonight.

Rahm looked very solid and expect another good round from him
Patrick Reed kinda snuck into 2nd place almost unnoticed.

Should also be noted that Niemann had a T5 the last time the PGA Tour played at Mayakoba so clearly likes the course and he is going to be hard to beat.

Team wise I did not expect The Cleeks to be up there especially with Meronk and Bland have the 2 bob bits from a dodgy salad.

I can't even recall seeing Reed hitting a shot on the coverage, obviously he'll get some tonight given he's in the lead group.

Richard Bland's 51st Birthday today - what a time he's having in the twilight of his career - still averaging just shy of 300 off the tee - not bad for a bloke who will undoubtedly be stiffening up as we all do with age.

He ought to go for lessons with Harrington, he hits it miles and is also over 50!

Never quite sure on the accuracy of these...
But it does seem to follow the theme of Rory pulling himself out of it, and maybe reinforces that feeling that the US PGAT is moving to more internally focused (not saying that's a bad thing).
Probably a coincidence, but no established US pros joined liv for 2024.

According to Eamon Lynch of Golf Week magazine, the PGAtour is not losing viewers. The viewership was slightly up in 2023 vs 2022.

If Hovland went to Liv in the future (Hypothetical)

And Rory continues to have a very different view to other US Tour players about the PGAT It wouldn't surprise me if Rory went to Liv to join all his euro pals

All just an opinion, not saying it will defo happen before everyone jumps down my neck.
