Not a coincidence playing with the head of Liv Golf.
Like I have said before the PGAT tours merger U Turn has now given the green light for the corporate world to engage with Liv around sponsorship's whereas before they would have been wary because of all the early negative press.

Lee Westwood in London Press Conference

"I see Liv getting stronger and stronger from what I have been told by people who actually know rather than speculation from people who dont know all the facts"

The Liv side of things seem very at ease with this whole merger situation rather than the turmoil on the PGAT players side where their leadership has handled the whole situation very badly from the start and then blindsided them with probably the biggest hypocritical u turn in professional sport and threw a good few of their top players under the bus.

It seems to be coming apparent that the PGAT realised their designated events model wasnt sustainable so then they would have been forced to lower the purses again in order to stay in business as a non profit entity.
Why did they rush through designated events ? - Simple to give their top players more money and stop them from considering moving to Liv and it worked.
However a back down to lower purses again would have actioned some top players going to Liv which would have meant keeping the current PGAT sponsors happy harder, even at the lower purses.

So before that very weak position down the road came to fruition they went for this merger as quickly as possible so their position was as strong as it could be from a bargaining position.

I suppose based on that theory if the merger didnt happen Liv's path is easier to attract sponsors because thanks to the PGAT trying to do golf business with the PIF, the stigma has gone.
Liv would start approaching top players with significant signing on bonuses again but there will be a lot less loyalty to the PGAT now after the PGA Tours actions.

Maybe thats why the likes of Brandel Chamblee who has been one of the harshest critics on the Liv/PIF is now saying that the PGAT cant afford for the merger not to happen ?
Had not read where Shambles is saying the merger has to go ahead, must be awful to have to eat that much crow, but being the hypocrite that he is he will handle it well.

LiV players in saying exactly what they have been told to say shocker. It’s in their contracts to only say positive things.

Decent number of spectators round the 16th hole just now.
I'd guess that's the difference between having galleries during play on a competition day and not having them at other times, such as when your photo was taken.

That photo was taken today by people from my club at the event marshalling

Cameron Smith playing superb, that chip in was tremendous.
He's making it easier than the course looks.
Is that excellent scoring from people that have played the course?

You’d think keopka would be more understanding given how broken he looked in the Netflix series

Wow -that’s pretty poor

It’s not the toughest course

Wouldn't suprise me if this is just manufactured nonsense, like trying to create a WWE storyline. Good way to create publicity for LIV, if they can generate a bit of drama off the golf course. Wolff and Koepka are probably great buddies behind the scenes.

That must have doubled the crowd

Wow no crowds where there are no golfers.

Best way to judge crowds is not by one selected image.
I could select an image from yesterday at Centurion with crowds all the way down a hole but why bother.
Any image could be selected from a DPWT or PGAT event showing no crowds on a hole.

At a PGA Tour event the crowds watching Rorys group are huge, crowds watching Doc Redmen are zero.
Pick the image that suits your narrative.
At Liv, crowds watching Brooks, Cam, DJ, Phil, Sergio, Bryson are going to be larger than watching James Piot

Best way to judge crowds overall is to watch the actual broadcast on You Tube of which I have watched every one from the start. (I watch PGAT as well and the Womens majors)

Crowds wise this year
Adelaide was off the charts.
Valderamma had really great crowds.
London yesterday had really good crowds and today there will be a lot more as the tickets are sold out, although the weather forecast is terrible today.
Even Tulsa in the USA which is their toughest market was a solid turnout.

There is no doubt from watching all the events that crowds at their events is growing.
