That's my thinking tooI can see that a thick insole would raised the sole of my foot higher up the inside of the shoe, and as the upper is shaped/curved inwards from the sole of the shoe it gets narrower. So taking the insole out could well give more space for the foot as the foot will sit down closer to where the upper is connected to the sole - and where there is more space for the sole of the foot to spread out.
