I'm sick and tired of the commentators always referring to Tiger!!!

When tiger plays the ratings rise, when he plays well they go through the roof.

For advertisers and sponsors they want tiger on the screen, as that's the best exposure they get.

Maybe when Rory has achieved some more they will agree and include more of him too.

BTW turning down the volume won't make Rory magically appear on the tv screen :)

What he said ^

I love watching Tiger strut his stuff as I do with Rory, Westy et al... However his shot that he cut into the last was pure brilliance and to sink the big bird too... I was fist pumping on that one.

Interestingly the US commentators did mention that this was his 1st appearance at the Honda and as such the attendance on the course was up something like 60%. I expect the viewing figures were similar too so you can't blame the TV companies as this is when the advertisers want their products aired too.

What he said ^

That's why I said 'commentators always referring the 'Tiger of old' and 'Tiger this' and 'Tiger that', whilst we are watching other players.

When Tiger is on the TV, they can talk about him all they want. But when Rory is just about to win the comp and is about to become world number one, I don't think it's right that everything being said should relate back to Tiger.

It's clear that the majority think this is ok and that's fine. But I myself, would prefer it if they showed a little less bias, especially when they're show is being shown around the world.

Again, I'm with Leaney here. The opening question was regarding the commentary rather than the coverage.

I think the constant fawning over Woods, and in particular the blaming of the poor shots of others on the fact that Woods had just posted a decent total, shows a lack of respect for the new world number one.

Great play by Tiger today and I for one hope he can continue with this type of form and challenge like he used to.

But....I've had enough of the american commentators always referring the 'Tiger of old' and 'Tiger this' and 'Tiger that', whilst we are watching other players - especially Rory. The day should have been about him being him playing the best over the four days and the fact that he is now world number one but all we hear about is Tiger who finished joint 2nd.

On another note, Lee Westwood played a blinder today, yet we barely saw any of him and it's completely wrong. He's 3rd in the world ranking and not 23rd like Tiger.

I'll be watching the next PGA tournament with the TV on mute!

I know what you mean but the guy is a living legend and how many majors has Tiger won compared to Westwood? Dont get me wrong I like Westwood but in another 40 years they'll still be talking about Tiger, definitely not about Westwood and other journeyman pro's.

A bit harsh I know but its true.

Tiger wherever he is ranked in the world will have people flocking to watch him, what hevdid on Sunday was nothing short of amazing. He will be world #1 before the year is out & will have at least one more major under his belt!
The only reason anyone else has been #1 post tiger is because he got caught with his pants down.

i am with you on this one. It is typical of the yanks. Its like when somebody shouted 'tiger' after rory tee'd off on the 17th!

Its annoying.... yanks will be yanks though.... Time to rise above!

It's not just the Americans. On Sky Sports 30 second headlines this morning the bimbo started with Tiger shooting his best ever final round to finish second, no mention whatsoever of Rory winning to become world no. 1.

I think its hard for the Americans right now having their tour and the world rankings dominated by Brits and Europeans. They do what they always do and become insular about whichever player of theirs is showing any sign of form that week. As it happened it was Woods shooting a vintage round and had it been English, Bradley or anyone elese they'd have got the same reaction and coverage. Westwood was always going to be a few shy of challenging and so I can understand why the US wouldn't focus on him.

It is what it is with US coverage in any sport. I'm a big American Football fan and accept every two plays they'll be an ad break. I tend to just Sky+ all the coverage and zip through it. It seems to be the only sensible way forward. Even the Sky coverage of the European tour isn't without its flaws and we're still get Ewan Murray having a Woods love in whenever he pegs it up over here. The Masters will be the same and even Alliss on BBC coverage will be the same

Think I'll have to try and find the time to rewatch yesterdays play...

As I clearly missed the bit where Tiger was in contention...

Yes, he had a fine round and his attacking play was rewarded with a good score...

But, in contention? Hardly!
