So far this year I have played in opens at Ballochmyle, Prestwick St NIcks and today at Kilmarnock Barassie. I have also played Largs and Crail in Golf in Scotland Series events, effectively opens. So only 5 so far with only another four to go.

At Barassie one of my playing partners drove down from Stirling for a 7.20 tee time and was heading back to Stirling to play in his own clubs open comp ! He did say that he often plays 2 in a day and will, play between 50 and 70 this year.

How many for every one else ?

The most i've played in one year is 28. I still try and play at least 1 a week from May to October .
A few years ago I played the Easter Moffat open, my PP was a 72 year old 5 handicapper called Will Smith [ easy to remember ]He was a member at both Gleneagles and Harburn.
He said he sometimes plays two opens a day, and plays up to 50 opens a season.
He scored net a 72 in tough conditions that day at EM , came back from his car and presented me with 6 almost new Prov1s in a egg box .
Said he walks Gleneagles at dusk with his dog and the place is littered with Prov1s . He also told me he had won £750 the previous year in prizes.

5 - 10 ish.

50 - 70 is nuts! Was he powdering his nose between holes?!?!

None. I used to play half doz a summer but I just got out of the habit. Got one at Woodhall in a couple of weeks time, and it's the first in too many years. I honestly hadn't realised!

only 3 so far for me this year, played Elie, playing Tain 36 holer on Saturday then Royal Aberdeen in September
what time are you off for Aberdeen? Birchy, odvan and myself are playing in that one early afternoon.

i would roughly say 25-30 each year, love them and it's a way to play a new course at a greatly reduced price.

Do you still come over to ours? It's a decent seniors open that one.

15 qualifying rounds so far this year in opens (mainly MidAm, nit a few Seniors as well).
Another 6 rounds this week (2 each MidAms at Letchworth, Exter and Burnham and Berrow)
2 next week in the EGU Seniors at Tandridge.
I think another 12 rounds for the remainder of the year so in total approx 35 for the year.

Really? Me, big Paul and Alan all off about 1.

Didn't realise you boys were up
I think we are off about 12.40

this is a mad weekend as we are travelling up Saturday morning and back straight after Sunday evening. Booked travelodge last week for £25 a room. Job done.
