As the title says - what's your travel time (door to door, using your usual method of transport) to get to your club? I'm phrasing it in terms of time rather than distance because I don't think there's a lot of difference between a 12 mile trip on winding country roads and a 20 mile trip down a dual carriageway.

Reason for asking is because I'm taking a look around to see whether or not to change clubs this year. The huge factor that is likely to keep me at my current club though is that it's 6 minutes away from home (2.5 miles). I could walk there if I had to. And I don't want to join any of the other three clubs that are within 15-20 minutes (two of them because the courses aren't as good, and one because it's Frilford Heath which is massively expensive). Looking round the options, all of the likely candidates are at least a 25-30 minute drive and that would put a damper on popping over to play a few holes after work during the summer.

So I wondered, how much driving time is everyone else prepared to put up with to get to your club?

Probably takes me 10 mins drive, I used to belong to a club 25 mins away and it was a bit of a slog which put me off. The local club is 2 mins drive away but it is up itself so I joined another.

8 mins if the lights like me. Used to play a a course that was 35-40 minutes away, but it just killed too much time (according to the wife) so made a 'quick' 9 holes out of the question. Best decision I've made

I'm in the process of moving in the other direction, from one 3 mins away to one which is 30-40 mins away depending on traffic. It is in good playable condition most of the year though compared to summer months locally.

Can't say I'm not envious of you guys within 10 minutes or so of your club!

I'm not in a club yet, but the one I'm thinking of is a 40 minute drive. There are others tht are closer, but they're either bucket loads of money or not worth joining.

I suppose that's what you get for living in London!

I've done the opposite to others on here and moved to a club further away this year as the club nearest me couldn't match up either deal or facilities wise and even though it takes me 30 mins to get there its well worth it for what I get for my money compared to ther other option of a 10 min drive and being disappointed

1 Hour 10 mins each way  so after 14 years and a zillion quid in petrol I moved to a club 6 mins from the house- luxury :smirk:

Car portion is 60 minutes then a 10 minutes water taxi with a couple of mins to get from car to boat (these are 4 times an hour so if you mis-time your arrival at the jetty then add 15 more) another 1-2 mins to get from jetty at the other end when the guys pick you up in golf cart to get to clubhouse

Best then is about 75 mins
Worst case 90 mins +

And I wouldn't trade it for 10 min journey to play on a bog :)

About three hours usually but worth the effort and its a beautiful drive.

Before, it was about 35 minutes if I got a clear run and no traffic problems. Now, having moved house its about an hour so I'm looking at a club nearer home ..

Pumpherston is looking favourite just now, although I'm unsure whether finances will stretch to running a dual-membership as I'm paid up at Peebles until March 2014.

About 20 minutes which includes picking up my playing partner. 2 clubs within 5 minutes of me but 1 is up itself and the other allows anyone on to include 5 balls, players in jeans etc in fact anyone willing to pay so I've no problem with the travel time.
