How long does it take you to get to your club?

One of them is around 15 minutes if I get a decent run, trouble is I have to cross the Erskine bridge which can be problematic for all sorts of reasons. If there is any sort of problem on the dual carriageway through Dumbarton then it can take forever, especially in summer with the amount of caravans and boats on the road there. I only really have one route to get there.

My new club is also around 15 mins but the advantage is that there are a couple of routes I can take, any problems on the short stretch of motorway then I can take the back roads.

Don't know yet as not bought a house or joined a club but house we're viewing on Saturday is 20 mins from favoured golf club. There are nearer ones but not sure of their quality, will play them when I get a chance

10 mins drive to the club, 15 to the range. couple of long par 5's to get to work/3 minute bike ride. pretty happy with that, closer the better for golf.

I'm lucky that I live just a short walk away, handy as there is a good social side so usually have a shandy or 2 after a round on a Friday night. Just checked on my golf app and the 1st green is 200yds from my front door.

Around 20 mins but I work a mile from home so the car never gets a good run unless golfing so don't mind. If the roads are quiet I can boot it and be there in 15

20 minutes generally. I have been there 15 years. I have a club close by that is 10 minutes walk at most but when it is busy, it is very slow. That is due to the holes that cross over each other. Another is about 5 mins drive but gets very wet and half of it is closed in winter. I don't know what it has been like this year and dread to think.

About 2 miles away , so under 5 mins driving , a bit more in the busy periods as the traffic does get bad at the wallisdown roundabout , good really as driving is my job and i dont like it much on my days off

Cheers everyone, I wasn't expecting quite that many responses! The consensus definitely seems to be that convenience is the primary factor, and if you're going to travel more then either the further track needs to be very good or the closer one needs to be awful.

For anyone interested, I listed out the numbers - turns out that 50% of us live within 10 minutes of our club, and the median time comes out as exactly 10 minutes. Only 11 out of 67 travelling more than 25 minutes, which is what I would probably have to do.

Sponge1980, I'm jealous. 200 yards? Actually, I bet everyone reading that is jealous. And MetalMickie, I'd be interested to hear how it works out for you if you decide to make that move, sounds like a similar choice to mine although I haven't narrowed it down to a single alternative club yet.

Nairn is about half hour 40 mins at most. Might take longer this year as they are referbishing the Kessock Bridge with resulting traffic jams even though i don't have to eveb cross the thing.

Damn. We've just booked the cottage for our summer golf trip on the other side of it! Has work started & is it bad? How long is it going on for? If its affecting you when you don't need to cross it, I assume it will not make life easy for the Scottish Open?

In reply to OP - as we're in the heart of London, can be anybodys guess. But early at weekends - my usual time - normally 10 mins by motorbike.

Have you booked a cottage on the Black Isle then?

The traffic is Horrendous at the moment, it’s only just started and already the jams are perhaps 40 mins to cross the bridge and its not even tourist season yet!!!!!

They have put traffic lights on the A9 Roundabout the Inverness side and if anything that has made it worse. I think it was due to take a year or more to do both sides.

40 Minutes. Live in Kent, play in Essex, but seeing as my wife plays too, we travel together so no issues with being out most of the day :D
