How do you do right ?

Have you ever been hit by a golf ball?

Yes on the hand but thankfully not from a great distance, however as was mentioned id rather stand aside and watch the flight than wait for the shout and guess which area it came from, granted not everyone can see the ball flight but if you are standing aside watching people hit at least you will have an idea if they do hit wayward.

Neither is wrong Murph.

I don't know why you are asking this question. It's perfectly simple. If you intend to go for the green and there is a party on it, then you clearly cannot play notwithstanding how the group behind feel about it. So maybe you may not reach the green, but it was your intention to do so, so you did the right thing in waiting.

the reason i asked was explained in the op , i was just wondering how can ya play without upseting someone .. some good replys & i personaly would be in favour of a call through , thanks to all for ye'r opinions..

we have a reachable par 4 off the yellows. Well not for me on a sunday best i end up 15-20yrds short has been my closest but i know the big boys relish playing that hole.I always tee off as i know i cant get there even on my biggest straightest day i cant get there and believe me ive tried but not got the minerals lol.
We got a couple par 5s reachable in 2 but thats purely through roll out for me its not carry!
My biggest gripe is we have a couple blind holes on the course and no form of signalling eg a bell etc. Old man was greeted with a ball last weekend roll past his feet and the guy on the tee knew we was there as i was paralel with him at the top of the hill looking down (fairway slopes right to left)

I have no issues if people want to call up, etc. I have issues when the golf club has a call up hole. If golfers feel obliged to call up because of notices to this end, then they had better be well insured. Accidents will happen, and when they do, it will be the club at fault, not the golfers. I'm guessing most courses try to absolve themselves of any responsibility with small print.

The old Royal Ascot course had a couple of call up holes. To be honest they were a pain in the backside. I'd much rather spend an extra three or four minutes waiting for the group on the green to putt out and then play it to an empty green. If players behind are getting the hump tough. You'll be back behined the group behind on the next long par 4 and no doubt waiting for them on a par 3 so whats the rush. You aren't actually holding them up
