Handicap manipulation - how to address

At my last club the juniors were unbeatable as they were all single figure golfers 😭
Yep. When I was 10 my handicap was 41. It was 13 when I was 13 and continued to drop steadily each year until I was 17 years old. I was allowed to compete in some adult comps when I was 15 years old only because I was single figures. Non single figures had to wait until they were 18.

I'm talking about people encouraged to start playing and competing before they have got up to speed. As juniors we all fell into that category and were only allowed to play in the main competitions when we had developed enough to have found a level fair to the others. Drop a junior in to adult competitions too early and he'll be unbeatable.
More gobbledegook. What on earth is a "level fair to the others"? And did you mean to say "Drop a junior in to adult competitions too early and he'll be unbeatable" or perhaps the opposite?

Juniors, who are half decent, will see their handicaps drop considerably year by year as they mature. That's what happens. At the start of the season they could be on 30 and 17 at the end. That was the old system anyway.

They tell me that golfers should choose the tees that match their ability. I would suggest that those over 28 should go play pitch and putt so perhaps clubs that have these players should consider introducing a small tee on each hole, on the edge of the rough, giving 18 holes of between 100 and 150 yards for these people to get up to speed.
I’ve been following this thread since the beginning, and this remark has finally convinced me that Thintowin is just winding everyone up, because no rational person could truly hold the extreme beliefs that he (or she?) spouts out.

I’m out.

When did the maximum handicap increase above 28?

That's a different question entirely from the issues I'm trying to highlight with WHS. I have no issues at all with anyone wanting to enjoy golf at whatever level. Those that have had the misfortune to see their game deteriorate through no fault of their own should be compensated in whatever handicap system is in use. But let's face it several posters on here say their clubs limit competition handicaps so little chance for them to compete there.

What I would like to see is a handicap system I can trust and one that isn't focused on patronising people by making it easy to compete before they have reached their level.
You suggested that your reputation on this forum would be Marmite. Wrong. Marmite may be loved or hated but at least the product itself is consistent.

Perhaps it's appropriate to put him "ignore", or,
for this particular thread to end, or,
quit feeding a troll, or
all of the above?

A club I play at a couple of times a year has this 'tee' for beginners/juniors to introduce them to golf out on a course as opposed to just using practice range where they get lessons but its only used for introductory golfer level not for players with handicaps

I suspect that by saying "up to speed" you actually mean attaining a handicap of around 18
(although I dunno how any of that improves your comp chances against one of your mates/former peers who was off 7 UHS and now gets 12 or 13 shots)

Great idea.

We had our Junior Tees rated a few years back for everyone, Par 60, 12 x Par 3’s & 6 x Par 4’s.

We encourage all beginners to play off these tees first and obviously can be used to get their first handicap.

Yeah there's still the rated 'green' tees for beginners etc around a dinky 4,500 yrds at home club. Very useful if/when needed (my wife found them great for a few months but doesn't use them now, moving onto red tees)

These 100-150 tees are just to transition new players/kids and act as stepping stone from lessons on a static range to short holes on an actual course before going to 'green'

I know 3 jabber asked a similar question and handicaps increased from a maximum of 28 on 1/1/18 7 years ago when you were 10. That was 7 years ago which makes you 17 now which you refer to in your post.

While there may be a typing error in your post are you 17 years old now? If so Yaounde have quite a few ideals/ opinions about many issues for somebody of that age.

Also good that you were once off 41 but now criticise anybody who receives 2 shots a hole when you used to receive 3 on some holes.

Kindly clarify when convenient.

We have Blue tees.
Juniors and beginners use them some older seniors but not many .
They are 100 yds in front of the white tees so takes 1800yds off the course length.
There a good idea.

Clarify? 🤣. Don't hold your breath; I'm too old to get down on my knees to do CPR.

Off on a tangent now. The point I was making was that we don't need a system to encourage more people into the game that compromises the core club game. WHS has compromised that core.

You may disagree, and you are free to, with that but some have tried to attack me by cherry picking my explanations rather than dealing with the wider point.

Other initiatives do not have to compromise our core and those initiatives are tried and tested in many clubs' junior sections. Why not apply them to adult beginners?

It would have been useful to have had actual explanations to cherry pick from.
