Played medal today and made buffer with a nett 71. Course is par 69. I had an(other) 8 at a par 4. For handicap purposes will this be counted as 7 or a six on the card or does this depend on stroke index. In this example I was stroking.

Has anyone a link to explain this in idiot language.

It's simple (fairly)!

In medal play, for handicap purposes only, a big score(s) is reduced to one stroke higher than the score which would have made 1 stableford point.

See - told you it was simple.

So if I wasn't stroking on the hole would it be recorded as a 6???

So a hypothetical(sp) situation if I had a nett 71 with 2 8,s at par 4 I am not stroking at they would both cout as 6,s and my adjusted score for handicap would be a nett 67 for a .6 cut (off 16)

Is that0 right?

Correct - but remember your score, or adjusted score, is gauged against CSS not par.
