first posting here... got a greensomes comp tomorrow am and, having never taken part in one before, wondered if there were any particular tips from the experts out there.

e.g. is it best to whack the first ball off the tee and then play safe with the 2nd if the first one goes awol, or vice versa?

Any other tips?

No idea who the partner will be - that's being drawn out of a hat...

Back to front my lad - the first/best player keeps the ball in play and the second, if drive OK, opens his shoulders and gives it an almighty belt!

Remember to play to strengths ... if a ball is further back but one player is stronger with his irons and more likely to hit the green, don't be afraid to play the shorter drive.

On the green ALWAYS have your putter in the crook of your arm even if your partner is only one foot from the hole. If he misses, every step you take to your bag and back to the green confirms that he should have sunk the putt in your opinion and makes him a sad bunnie! Makes his next short putt even harder.

Play well.

I would get the higher handicap to play tee shot first,as there is less pressure on that tee shot, and the lower handicap to play second. If the first drive is in play, the second player can take more of a risk, and if a better player, more likely to bring it off.
