Golf Random Irritations

Irritated by articles reporting that so & so ‘predicts’ xyz player will win the Masters (or any other sporting event)

These aren’t predictions. At best it’s just a guess but often its just who they hope will win

The one that annoys me is " can "X" win The Masters"...
Is he teeing it up on the Thursday?
Yes?
Then he can..anyone teeing it up can....
Will they?
Well, let's have a look on Sunday night shall we...

Irritation as it relates to the handicap system… but a question as I thought I had a grip on it, and clearly I’m missing some info.

Scenario: These 2 players, off 3.1 and 3.4, are playing in a Stableford, from the navy tees.

How many shots does each player receive?

They get whatever the computer says they get.

I’m not sure what’s the issue ? Their course HC is 5 so the shots they get will be dependent on the format and HC allowances so for a Stableford it will be 5 🤷‍♂️

No, their course handicap isn’t exactly 5 it is a number to a lot of decimal places, which I can’t be bothered to work out (this is why competitions are run via ISVs). The handicap allowance, if it is singles Stableford, will be 95% of this number.
All of this will be calculated by the computer, hence they get whatever the computer gives them.

I think this is why, it’s like 4.729 which goes to 4.49 from 95%.

Holed a 9 footer on the 18th for a 1 under par gross 69 this evening.

"Why is this an irritation?" I can hear you all ask with dumbfounded expressions across your faces?

I thought it was for a 68!!!

Best round in well over 15 years...have a 67 and two other 69's on my "record" (hence my annoyance that I didn't get a 68 to fill the gap :ROFLMAO: ) from a long time ago on our yellow tees...yes it was a casual practice round so no competitive pressure but, who cares...its still decent golf, something that I know deep down I'm capable of getting close to more regularly than pratting about shooting high 70's/low 80's.

Tale of the tape...

11/13 Fairways hit
13/18 Greens in Reg
30 putts
1.69 putts/GIR
1.6 putts/non GIR
77 feet total putts holed
5 birdies, 4 bogeys, 9 pars
44 Stableford points if that's how you like to calculate things (I get 7 shots)
