Golf Random Irritations

Golf clubs who can't be bothered to post competition results.

Had a scramble at our place on Saturday with various prizes. 48 hours later, no sign of the results. If you are going to take entry fees from members, then the least you can do is publish the results in a timely manner.

Appears to be one of the niceties of using IG.

As soon as the full results are entered in tot the computer and results calculated the seem to appear on the website.

Of course if there is a problem and the comp cannot be closed the results will not appear. Several years of being involved it is amazing how many simple problems caused by the players stop the competition being closed. Cards not returned, cards unsigned, score not entered on to the computer, putting down NR for every hole when clearly holes have been played, no name on the card, Bob and Mike on the card.

£40 more is 29% extra, for these Key Differences & Improvements:
  • Consistent Center of Gravity (CG): This is the headline change. While the SM10 had slightly different CG positions based on the grind, the SM11 standardizes the CG for all grinds within a specific loft. This means an S-grind and M-grind in the same loft will feel and flight more similarly.
  • Groove Technology and Spin: SM11 features 5% more groove volume than SM10, achieved through tighter manufacturing tolerances.
  • Directional Face Texture: SM11 introduces a new face texture angled toward the leading edge, increasing friction on partial, delicate shots to improve spin consistency, especially in wet conditions.
err... the SM10's sound better value to me. Or actually you can save yourself another £30 by not paying the Titleist tax, and go for another premium brand like Mizuno.
Does this mean I should change my SM4s :ROFLMAO:

Irritation as it relates to the handicap system… but a question as I thought I had a grip on it, and clearly I’m missing some info.

Scenario: These 2 players, off 3.1 and 3.4, are playing in a Stableford, from the navy tees.

How many shots does each player receive?

At the end of the day a player is only responsible for recording their gross score on the card.

The committee is responsible for calculating the stableford points.

For my home club, IG app tells me what my playing handicap is anyway. For any away round I'm just using course handicap so I use MyEG app to tell me that.
Yeh, I noticed only yesterday that BRS can do this too, thought I’d share the link for anyone who doesn’t have those apps.

It gets a bit fiddly stood by the first tee, card in hand, open eg app, write down HI, open BRS/website, flick between that and eg app entering the course rating, slope and par, back to the scorecard and write down those numbers.

You’d think the eg app would just have this info for you when you go into the course handicap calculator section.

I'm probably misunderstanding but doesn't the EG app do that? I've looked up what my handicap is before I travel to a course and it's all there.

It shows your course handicap but not playing handicap. So if you’re in a comp you need to work out your playing handicap yourself, which isn’t quite as easy as 95% of your course handicap (as I’ve found out after spending hours trying to work out why my maths aren’t working!)
