Golf Random Irritations

Having been closed for two weeks due to rain, they opened it on Wednesday.

I popped down yesterday afternoon for 9 holes and found that they have cut the fairways and the tee boxes, so tell me again how wet it was?

Our tee boxes,.fairways and greens have been fine all winter,it's getting to them that's the problem 😀.
In fairness Course Manager is doing a fantastic job, renovated 16 bunkers so far as well

The annoying thing is that in 4-5 months the courses will be brown, grass dying, it’ll be like hitting off concrete again.

Got me thinking, do golf courses have reservoirs where they can keep all of the rain we get in winter and use it on the fairways in summer?

I was already led to believe many clubs had their own bore holes that they used for irrigation and watering courses. Perhaps it’s something that could be looked into deeper and work in favour of clubs. Problem is it’s not cheap to put in these features and getting people to agree to something they don’t really understand and see a physical benefit everyday is hard.

Ah ok, makes sense. I’m no expert on it, but we same the same thing every year, why don’t the water companies build more reservoirs so that we don’t have droughts in the summer, every year! Eats into their profits I guess, more 💩 dumped into rivers instead!

I mean we do the same in our homes with water butts don’t we, similar principle.

It was mentioned on the news earlier this year that no new reservoirs have been built since the water companies were privatised - wonder why that is?

Environmental and planning restrictions rather than penny pinching from when I did some work for them as I recall.😉 Folk don't like leaving homes so that their village can be flooded!

There's currently a whopper in progress that I know of. Not that more are not needed given current trends.

We have four lakes on our course...but we are still restricted by the local water authority as to how much we can take from them.
