I’m with you, I hate foursomes.Yes I was irritated by foursomes yesterday
Played lots of it - doesn’t mean I can’t get irritated by it every now and then
Well you could have said that to the chap who asked you!The background was in the “I played today”
It was an irritation yesterday
Our local scratch league (8 division, 6 teams per division) is foursomes. As many of the matches (5 pairs per side) start at 5.30 it would be difficult to get round at the beginning and end of the season. Great format for matchplay, a real team game.
I quite enjoy foursomes nowadays. It's a different kind of pressure when you don't want to let your teammate down, rather than just yourself. I also enjoy the teamwork element when you talk shots through with your partner, often you'll end up hitting a better shot than you would've done on your own. Sort of like having a caddie I guess, but I've never played with an actual caddie. It’s only half a game though.
And I have been places I didn’t know existed on my course
I’m playing a green some next week at least you drive on all holes.
But as I said “ if I don’t play the comp I can’t get a tee times “
I played for Filton in that league for a good few years and through it grew to love scratch foursomes. And it’s additionally tough knowing your match is one of only five so really matters. Fortunately my best mate was also a member and my foursomes partner, so we played together in the team. We were very forgiving of each other…so important. Even though our handicaps were 6 our foursomes play was very solid and complementary so we could compete against lower handicap pairs. Our local scratch league (8 division, 6 teams per division) is foursomes. Easier to slip the towel off the carabiner which stays on the bag.The metal clips that come with golf towels. They just aren't big enough and so it is a battle to remove them each time so that you can wash them. Why don't they do them bigger?

Thank me later
