Yeah, my course has been closed all week since Sunday, they've already said it's closed tomorrow. Seems doubtful that it will open on Saturday when more rain is forecast that morning. How is there any rain left??

Ours has been open pretty much every day it's not biblical

Played Monday and weds, a couple bits of standing water but greens are lovely and tee boxes are cracking

Majority of fairway drained aswell

Most enjoyable for this time of year

Course closed since Tuesday and email landed this morning outlining that it will remain closed until Monday ?. To be fair the amount of wet stuff falling from the sky has been pretty horrendous and the forecast this weekend doesn’t look any better. Next opportunity to play will be next Friday fingers crossed ??.

Not sure if this should go in Irritations or Gladden the Heart

Course is shut today and with the rain forecast overnight it will probably be closed again tomorrow. This will mean our weekly roll up will be a top tracer competition instead. If it starts around 11:00 (usual start time) it should be done in time for the start of the Rotherham Utd v Blackburn match on Sky and the way we have been playing lately, I'm not convinced I can stand watching.

Got so tired of the golf course being shut....arranged to join the indoor tennis group on Monday night next week. They have a "tester" night so I won't have to pay extra unless I want to play regularly. No idea if my body will hold up to leaping around.....it's been a while since I've tried:eek:. I've been out swinging a putter around like a tennis racket....trying to avoid getting toooooo sore.

I think would be great if clubs could have built indoor Sims where you can play virtual rounds up to 4 players , book out a slot for couple hours. Gets some Buisness on the cold days and gets people socialising and playing

Well, if the predictions are true and the UK starts getting dryer/warmer summers and warmer/wetter winters.....this last month and a half could become the norm. I don't mind spending the money to get kitted out for tennis.....as long as my body can take it. Could play more tennis during the winters when the course is a mud bath.

I will have to clear more space in the garage and look to set up a more realist practise bay in there.

Bought an umbrella off Amazon. It's more blue and less black than I hoped for - now it won't match the bag I had my eye on.

The amount of marketing freebies given away to all forms of media when new products are released.
Just watched a short video where TM have not only sent a new Stealth driver but the box also includes a Bluetooth speaker and a rangefinder plus some balls.
To be fair to the recipient, they have said that most of the goodies are used as prizes or giveaways or donated to charities but the cost of those goodies gets added to the cost of the club in the long run...multiply that by the number of clubs they give away..it's going to add up to a tidy sum..
It's no wonder we're having to pay 500 quid for a driver.

Thur 12th - Closed

Fri 13th - Open

Sat 14th - Closed - not that I was going out today in the rain, anyway.

Some -3 C nights coming up - so frozen greens likely.

I might hope for my second game of the year on Sat 21st.

Irritated that the rain continues…and so the course has to be closed - but relieved (if not actually glad) that all Winter Comps have today been suspended for the time being and until course has had a chance to dry out a bit.

A few goodies given to reviewers is what's forcing the price of drivers up? LOL

I would love to know how many items of 'free' stock are given away by some of the big companies each year
I. E Adidas or Taylormade

The former wouldn't surprise me if it were well over 100k units just from the golf division (maybe nearer 500,000) ?

Coming 3rd in our roll up and winning £10.

My irritation is I beat 4th place on count back and that meant he got to draw the yellow ball. £169 in the pot and 5 balls - he only went and won it! His 2nd £100+ win in 2 years.
