Finding out a lad who have played multiple scratch matches against over the last couple of years when he played for John O Gaunt passed away due to Leukaemia over Xmas - age 39

That’s exactly it. My problem is that when I had lessons and was hitting it really well it was with a full swing and tilt/ twist from hips and shoulders which helped create coil and power. Problem is. I still try a full swing and it goes massively belly up. Fortunately I can see the problem.I am working on shortening my swing again, to stop me swinging over the top on occasions with driver. Early signs are that it does work. I noticed my backswing had got very long, and once it gets past horizontal I lose control of it and almost pull it over my right shoulder when I start the downswing - that produces the awful slice. If I can stop my backswing just before horizontal, it doesn't tend to happen.
I keep reminding myself that things could go ka-put any day.Finding out a lad who have played multiple scratch matches against over the last couple of years when he played for John O Gaunt passed away due to Leukaemia over Xmas - age 39![]()

Some of the lads who are better golfers have told me to do something similar without moving the weight forward.Hi there
Not sure what your level of golfswing is, but you can only shorten your swing by extending the first couple of feet of your takeaway, and then transitioning quicker into the downswing.
Try the age old low and slow takeaway, but feel that you are moving your weight back towards the target before you even finish your backswing.
The dowswing will feel a bit rushed and super short in the beginning but after hitting 20 or so shots your backswing will start to feel more comfortable and compact, and your strike more explosive yet more controlled.
Good luck
Pleasure mate. Havent seen you swing but if everything is pretty decent, this should be the cherry on the top. Some of the lads who are better golfers have told me to do something similar without moving the weight forward.
Just had the highlights of my year. As I suspect it has been a bad one with my hcap going up 2.1
Many thanks me man.
Sounds like the excuse you needWhen fitting my G430 SFT last year, the fitter told me he wishes they did a 9° on the SFT, but since they don't, I've had to get a 10.5 head dialed down to 9.5 (which opens the face slightly).
I've just seen that the G440 SFT comes in a 9° head. Grumble.
Seriously when it is going to end?Got £575 lying around...?
Seriously when it is going to end?
The price of golf equipment is getting scandalous these days.
Agreed. Even the second hand market is incredibly inflated. It's taken me weeks to find a reasonable price "new" driver. I'll be able to get a large chuck of what I paid for mine backSeriously when it is going to end?

There are a good few online coaches i can't watch for this reason alone. Sooooo frustrating to watch.Don't usually post in here but......having just watched a video of a golfer
Golfers who, after addressing the ball, twitch their club vertically a milllion times before hitting the ball. HIT THE DAMN THING!
Plus, the wife not agreeing to play in a mixed comp with me the day after her birthday. Really? What's wrong with her?????
Fairways are 350 except the LS which is the same as the drivers
Hybrids are nearly 300.
I think if you've bought new in the last couple of years it's hard to justify that outlay for a few more yards

Maybe she wants to win......Well, she married you, didn't she?
Surely that's a clue.![]()
