• We'd like to take this opportunity to wish you a Happy Holidays and a very Merry Christmas from all at Golf Monthly. Thank you for sharing your 2025 with us!

gm v howdidido

I started it and organised it all and simply didn't play in it at the end and the reigns were then picked up by Nick (Wrighty1874).

English gm v HDiD

Scottish boys played at Christmas at Leven links and I believe GM won to make it one all

Yep your right Patrick Old Boy GM Won that one, my back is still sore after carrying you that day:ears:

TBH Team Engerland should tuck the HDID team away because they only really have one golfer in the team (Nick) the others are just a bunch of weekend warriors and then there is wee half pint, he is a funny guy but not a golfer he hangs onto Nicks coat tails:whoo:

Robin, I think you should take control of this one and select the team for GM, this is a must win match and after the HDID weekend warriors destroyed the GM Chompers last year I think you need to search for a few new players as it's plain that the guys last year were not up to the job:whistle:

I had lost any interest in the match long before I got to the course.

Would not do it again either.

I love the idea of having the longest drive on a dog leg though. Class. May be do it on a par 3 next time?

I am with you on that one Murph. Some people put me off playing before it started, I nearly didn't bother going, but it was not fair to let others down at short notice.

Are you sure Bomber, I seem to remember it finished 3-3, although I think you may have tucked me away in our doubles

It was a long time ago Big Man so you could be right but after the first one which was a whitewash am sure 3-3 must have felt like a win to GM:rolleyes:

Question is, can team Engerland do any better in a rematch:p

We can't do any worse.:-) Think people took the pre match banter a bit too serious last time .Personally never had a problem with any of it.

It was a well organised day last year, faultless and all Wrighty1874 had to do was a closing speech. If anyone has a translated copy could you please send it on

Ha ha ha..... can't recall the speech but do remember HDIDo Boo's "longest after 2 shots" prize of a pair of size 7 Golf shoes, turned out to be the Box they sent our HDIDo Match Hats in... & very natty they are too when worn with the team shirt..... had many comments about them. However, took months for my back to be fixed after carrying my partner Doylie all the way before I sunk puts on the last 2 holes for a half then finally the win on the 18th.... don't know whether he'll be up for such tension again in his condition :-)

Hi guys, waiting to speak to wrighty1874 as he organised it last year along with fish.

I think kenilworth was a worthy venue, but am going to see if i can arrange an allocated slot at the worcestershire
for fri the 12th july. As they are hosting the Logan Trophy (Mid Amateur) the weekend before, so the course
should be in top condition.

Would anybody be intrested in this?

Quinn,

Good man, could you start a thread on this side(arrange a game) for me/us and see
who and how many are intrested.

Great course and should be in great shape after such a national/european mid amatuer event.
