I think it has to be Stableford, we learned from the first KoK day at Hillside didn't we that large group + mixed abilities + unfamiliar championship course + medal format isn't a good mix.

I can see where people are coming from with the preference for medal, it's a better test, but I would have thought that the 36 hole format will still give some advantage to lower handicappers.

What was the issues, just too slow play? I think Medal is more intense, makes you focus and play your best golf.

What is likely to win the medal? After you shoot over a certain amount just start picking up and finish in stableford.

No slow play.

Think Stableford is the sensible format to encourage as many as possible to play

But have a scratch prize alongside

If all handicaps are welcome then I think that it has to be Stableford, a good compromise is to have 2 prizes one scratch and one handicap. Same format as HFH I believe but over 36 holes.

Personally for a strokeplay scratch comp to work best you would need to limit the handicap IMHO. Maybe leave that for another time.

That is effectively what the first option was, could have been more clear i suppose.

not sure what the issue is mark the card with the score and the points and have handicap and a scratch prize.

that way when someone goes round in level par, 36 points and comes nowhere but gets a prize while someone shooting way over but as they are getting 20+ shots come in with 40+ points and win.

every one wins;)

36 holes is too long a day when you consider travel and 5 hour rounds.

18 hole scratch.

A scratch comp wipes out most of the forum

And believe it will be looking at 36 holes over 2 days

Do we know when and what part of the country this will be taking place?

Think from the over thread they are looking at around Leeds area with courses Alwoodly and Moortown prob favourites

It's a (fun) forum meet. 36 stable ford with a Guinness every 6 holes - other brands are available.

I don't care what format, it's all about a bit of craic. Oh, and a curry. Curry is more important than golf!
