I fear this question has been asked already, but i didn't find anything when i searched.

On Sunday i'm playing in my first competition - a stableford. I was wondering if anyone has practical tips, other than enjoying it. I've read from another post that i only need to keep gross score and i believe i can pick up if i cannot score?

Do i meet the rest of my three ball at the tee box a few minutes before our tee time or on the practise green?

Thanks for your help,
Matt

A bit of nerves isn't a bad thing, can help you focus. Just think about a slow and smooth swing on the 1st tee and not too tight a grip, that'll help. Get it in play, you don't need to slaughter it! Make sure you're at least a bit loose too before the off.

Watch the etiquette re holding flags, staying still and quiet during others shots, repair pitch marks, replace divots etc. Keep a decent pace - be ready to play when it's your turn.

I would meet your partners just before you tee off, it'll happen, you don't need to plan anything.
They won't be nervous at all so will likely put you at ease.

You can pick up in stableford but make sure you know what shots you're getting before you do that. Just finish out the hole unless it's a cricket score.

One shot at a time - terrible cliche but true! Try and use a pre-shot routine too.

The best tip/comment I got early on was "don't worry mate weve all done it" it put me at ease

Enjoy the game!

Play within yourself. If you get into trouble look for the quickest way out. Relax and enjoy it. Any doubts about how to proceed rules wise stop and ask before doing anything. Its only a game so have fun. Everyone gets nervouse so relax on the first, trust yourself and swing
