We don't know the details but its club champs post round in the clubhouse and one player calls out another as a thief and a cheat in front of all in attendance and 'fight' kicks off between them (twitter post in the link shows it)

Comments/opinions on the incident please, plus what would you have done if you were either of theses 'gents'?

If you believed someone was a cheat, would you publicly call them out like this?
If you were called out (regardless of guilt) how would you have reacted?

And on the lighter side, did the wearing of flip flops in the clubhouse contribute in anyway?

Not sure what it is that you want us to say? Its just an example of boorish, male agression - and unacceptable at a golf club or anywhere else. Yes, the "calling out"was out of order, but the reaction was too. Both parties in tbe wrong.

To be honest I was more outraged by his flip flops and the ladies jeans 😂

Pretty shocking. Whether the vocal guy was justified or not, it's not the way to go about it.

But violence is never justified and I'd imagine in the UK this would be a police matter and the chap would probably be out of the golf club and have a criminal record (possibly ruining his career).

That I just put down to them being from the southern hemisphere and not knowing any better ...
Hehe.. well I'm from the Sth hemisphere and plenty of us know better...than to wear flip flops in the clubhouse! My first reaction was it can't of been much of a headbutt!,he seemed to just get up and wander off with his pride dented more than anything else after the scuffle, when delivered properly, that should of floored him and spread his nose across his face,I suspect his clubhead speed would be lower too due to poor technique. Seriously though poor form and if you're gonna go at it take it outside.Surely he'll be banned?

There are ways to go about things and I’m not sure showboating by gobbing off in a packed bar is the way to be conducting yourself.

Fully condone unprovoked violence but honestly this was provocative and deserved a slap

If the guy is a cheat and a thief as claimed then there are ways of handling it and shaming him via the correct channels.

If he is genuinely innocent of any acusayions then honestly. Well within his rights to banjo the guy.

I saw that this morning, hilarious. You have to say, to yell cheat across the clubhouse he must have been VERY confident in what he witnessed. Or he's just a complete knobhead. Either way, in responding the violence the guy has pretty much sealed his death-knell at the club, rather than if he'd have just denied it and put the burden of proof on the accuser.

I used to work with South Africans when I was younger, and they're generally very forward and not shy at all, so this video doesn't surprise me in that respect. :D

We don't know the circumstances behind any of it or the history so it's difficult to make comment of the guy calling out a thief and cheat, in regards the assaulter, can't think of any excuse for that kind of behaviour in such a public place.

Yeah living where I do, I play and socialise with folks from that neck of the woods an awful lot. Great bunch of lads/lassies for the most part but for the odd one I can see how something like this could escalate in the way it did

Embarrassing for all parties concerned - poor to shout accusations but even worse to react with violence - I suspect both will be thrown out of the club , well especially the guy who threw the headbutt
