Why are the England team getting such grief?
Did they deliberately fill their shoes with lead and the ball with helium. Or are the (overpaid lucky) players just doing their best?
Lets face it every season only one or two teams do well but even then they can get grief if they don't win everything in sight. As most teams therefore underachieve it seems obvious that fans of football follow the beautiful game to have something to whinge about over a pint. Why else would they put up with a game where few win and the ref so frequently is the deciding factor?
Am I wrong? anyway give the team a break, its difficult to take feeling sorry for them when you're Irish. :o

Just back from holiday abroad. Watched the game on friday in a crowded Greek bar. Atmosphere was fantastic. Both English and Greek, shoulder to shoulder, there to cheer on England.

As we all know, the result didn't go as expected and the performance was dire to say the least.

Left the bar feeling cheated........ by the team! In short they were utter garbage and not worthy of wearing the shirt. I just hope it's typical slow starting England and we pick it up for the next game.........you live in hope.

Okay, lets look at the facts here:

Why didn't the EPL use the Jabilani last season?
Because the EPL were tied in with huge sponsorship deal with Nike

Why didn't the FA use the Adidas Jabilani ball for the friendlies against Mexico and Japan?
Because the FA ar getting MILLIONS from NIKE for using their ball.

If the World Cup means so much to them then why did the English Football Arseociation not let them get used to the ball instead of filling the bank account?

I get the feeling everyone is struggling with the ball, not just us. How many long range goals have there been so far?
England just didn't seem interested.

So you're saying that England have been crap (so far) because of the ball ? :D :D :D

Well Rooney looked like he had been passed a hot potato on Friday and Heskey made the ball look like a bar of soap and ended up on his arse at every turn. Is it the weight of expectation that is weighing them down.

Heskey always ends up on his arse, it aint the balls fault, he is just garbage!
I dont feel sorry them, I feel sorry for us who hope time and time again that we have a team that can take on the world, that this means more than the 150k wages, that they want to be remembered as lions among men, in history for the right reasons, but each time, we are robbed by them, by their poor performance, and lethargic attitudes. they look like they want to be on holidays not playing for their country! I want them to do well, for us, but I get the feeling they cant be arsed! Being english and Newcastle fan, I am destined to never see my team win a major sporting trophy! :( lol

They get paid to kick any ball round a pitch, why are they complaining?? Come on, everyone else has to play with them not just the English, just using more excuses for a very very bad performance

Do you not think that the problem is more deep seated?

When NZ can play with part time players - bankers at that!! - and draw with Brazil, do you not feel that the England squad believe their own hype and that of their pundits. If you get paid many millions you believe you are worth it and you only have to turn up to win games.

Friday's game - quote "It was their final to play against a team like us" Sorry you were crap and worse crap than they were!

Lets hope last night's meeting put things in order.

Do as you are told for the good of the team.
The manager picks the team not the other way round.
Play for the team not your bank balamce.
Play for the jersey, find some degree of national pride.
Watch the NZ video and see what effort is and what it can bring.

AND if you don't want to heed the foregoing - remember your in good company if you come home at this stage ....'We're on the march wi Ali's army....'

feel sorry for them - why?

the least I expect from anyone, in any sport, that puts on an England shirt is committment, pride and passion. you don't even have to win every time - but you do have to try.

I can't even imagine how Psycho is feeling having to stand behind Capello watching this dross and saying nothing.

They don't deserve sympathy; they need someone to motivate them and make them a team. Postman Pat Capello, despite earning £15,000,000 a day, every day, doesn't seem to be The Man.

Still, at least you beat the Aussies at Rugby at the weekend. The chances of Martin Johnson smiling have, as a result, been cut to only 1,000,000 to 1.

How very dare you bring us Postmen into disrepute... :D

Just seen this thread, but cmon.......

....It is NOT POSSIBLE to feel sorry for over-inflated, egotistical, and overpaid, and lets throw in 'inept', ..........football players.

Period.

Start the engines, they're on the way home.
