How come other countries didn't need a warm up fixture then ?

Why don't countries always have a warm up before a competitive game ?

Other countries seem to manage ok without the need for a warm up ?

Most countries had just one game over the international week - England had two.

What about the Germany v Argentina friendly. Many European countries had a second game that weekend.

If England didn't ignore the request then I'm sure we will hear from the FA soon in response to BR - so far it's quiet

And Sterling isn't on the same fitness routine as Sturridge has a history of thigh issues hence why he was asked to be rested to protect that and not Sterling - which was mentioned by BR

Sterling was rested from the starting line up today to protect him

Maybe he should of played

If a club has said to England to rest a player for a certain period to protect the player and England ignore that and the said player gets injured "Regardless of who they play for" - thats poor- very poor

If they agreed to that it would end up like Ryan Giggs for Wales who it seems was pulled out of almost every game by Ferguson! If managers were all honest about their players then it could work, and should do, but football doesn't work like that.

It was protecting Sturridge to ensure he would be fit for the actual match

He wouldn't have missed the game

The FA need to have a better relationship with the Prem Clubs if the England team is to prosper

So because a handful of teams only played 1 game then every country should have?

Give it a rest

No the point was international teams don't need to play to a friendly before a competitive match - if they do they why do they not,do it always ?

If any team needed more games it was England after the World Cup display.

They need a full restructuring

They also need to have every single representitive team play the same way right from under 15's to full Imternational

All the time clubs are disingenuous to the FA it isn't going to be that way, and as England takes priority then the FA can do as they choose

Who says England takes priority ?

Certainly won't be seen that way by the clubs.

I think that we saw Platini say that FIFA rules are that, if a player is called by his country he has to play or face a club ban. The fact that clubs don't see it that way is exactly why England have to have priority

How come there never seems to be such a problem in all the big nations like Germany. It seems there's much more of a co-operation between club and FA. Players still get injured. It will always happen whether it was a friendly or not. If the national coach isn't given the resources to work on tactics, try players etc, how does the national side move forward

Unless that player has handed in an official document stating he has retired hence why Ribery won't be playing for France and there is nothing Platini can do about it

The fact a country would believe they have a priority over the club that employ the player is the kind of arrogance that will ensure England will continue to face problems.

So go on then. How does England progress to become a competitive unit in major finals and why isn't there the same issue in other sports like rugby union. Unless England get access to the best players and have a chance to work with them regularly how do you see them getting better. That's not being argumentative but you seem to have the answers so lets see the grand plan
