Favourite paintings

Maybe one like this (without the clothes hanger hook)…my BiL’s art. We already have a few…

And I do like the work of Piet Mondrian.

I like Lowry and Banksy, would love Banksy to come round and do a nice design on our side wall 😄
This and this.

Love the Lowry stuff. Once went on a cruise and they had their painting experts on the ship. However they had never heard of either Banksy or Lowry. Experts my rrrs.
heard a story where Banksy set up a stall in New York selling some prints for $10 each.He sold half a dozen. One guy bought two. They were worth $10k each at the time.
Although Lowry was renowned for his matchstick paintings he was a gifted artist.
Re art, one man’s beauty is another man’s rammel.

Mona Lisa - underwhelming

Van Gogh - original paintings are mind blowing - the colours are amazing

Monet - standing in front of one of the "waterlilies" was like getting the hang of those magic eye things. Used to think meh but then I "saw" one, almost moving it was

My favourite? Couldn't really pick one. But Vermeer's work is as good as it gets ...

But the paintings that really blew me away were some still-lifes in the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam (by Claezs I think) - the objects depicted were so clear & life-like they looked like you could pick them up & take them home - especially those showing pewter or silver objects.

We collect A Y Nutt watercolours
Victorian painter of mainly Windsor landscapes.
He founded Windsor Art Club and taught a couple of Queen Victoria's children.
A family connection started our interest but they have also become quite a good investment.

Of the modern day stuff I like Richard Salter. Not sure if he is still painting though.

OOI what happened to the original poster, not seen him around for a while.
