Ewen Murray....is it just me??

I'm not keen on him.

At one of the tournaments in china he kept going on about how all the staff at the tourney and the local area in particular were all keen to work long hours for not much cash (prob almost none actually) and kept smiling etc etc without entertaining the idea that they probably had very little choice in the matter and were pleased to have a job or they might starve.

Sounded like one of those lovely free-market rich people who can't get their heads around the rather brutal reality faced by most of the world's population.

They can't break 100

Murray and Critchley both send me to sleep, but he was right on this occasion. The fans/media are very quick to jump on the behaviour of an established player so why not a new possible future star with a potentially huge amount of airtime in his future? Prevention better than cure, set the kids a good example etc.

I actually like Murray. I think Sky's commentary and coverage is infinitely better than BBC and that Murray is rather good at describing both the scene and the shot played. In relation to Hatton and his comments I think he was justified in saying what he did and the player admitted as much after.

Wayne Riley is the only decent commentator/expert on the show.

CBS/GolfChannel coverage much better. At least they try and make it interesting, unlike Murray whose voice sends you to sleep.

For me it's Wayne Riley who gets right on my nerves.

BTW, I followed Tyrrell Hatton for 18 holes at the Spanish Open in Girona recently and even his caddy thought he needed a good thump. He's a talented golfer with a gigantic attitude problem.

never had a problem with Murray or with Critchley, the Sky presenters in general i find pretty decent.

i'll even stick up for Monty. he is generally asked to provide the point of view of a genuine top class professional tour golfer, top ryder cup player, ryder cup captain etc. just general commentary from people who know a bit about golf can be provided by any number of sky commentators, monty's perspective is pretty unique. (i understand he takes it a bit far though).

wayne riley can be a bit too jokey sometimes.

ross macfarlane (?) though, my view is tempered by a friend who played with him in a pro am. and said words to the effect that he really wasn't a very nice chap, all things considered.

Yep... in total agreement but I do like Ken and Alliss on the beeb... oh and surprisingly Sir Nick :o

Don't like the others on the beeb especially Mark James!

He does a good job as far as I'm concerned. Usually gives a reasoned insight into the events as they unfold. You could do a lot worse than him.

As an aside, he was the guest of honour at his old club, Baberton, last year as they opened their new clubhouse. He gave a clinic for the juniors and was more than happy to get involved and answer questions etc as the session ran well past its scheduled time. Made a good impression with all those youngsters present ;)

I was going to create a new thread but came across this one in a search. Not surprised that someone already asked the question "Ewen Murray, is it just me or...."

Nauseating, over the top drivel.
