Clubhouses in the states won't have the rule, it wouldn't enter their minds to have it.

Some big ones over here that are looking to attract US golfers don't care either. I've seen Americans in the clubhouse at Turnberry with caps on for example. Know your target market.

Which was what I was saying earlier. In the UK we have levels of sub committee for everything. We love little bits of power to make silly rules for the sake of rules

It's just who we are

I mean the UK invented golf, with lots of silly rules which need full rules, then local rules which can be applied by the committee rather than just played

They even invent a rule to speed up play when taking a pen (stroke and distance) but don't allow it in comps lol classic 😂

I think we fear not being told what to do because the entire UK economy is built on middle management which would be wiped out if people just got on with it.

Not correct mate, just like over here it can vary massively: for example from just one Club

CLUBHOUSE
  • Golf or casual attire is acceptable throughout the clubhouse prior to 5:00pm.
  • After 5:00pm, the dress code is as follows:
    • State Room & Solarium - business or elegant attire, sport coat or complementary attire
    • Mixed Grille - club casual, slacks or complementary attire
    • Bar, Men's Grille, Men's and Ladies' Locker Room - casual golf attire
  • Blue Jeans (denim) are not recognized as appropriate attire at any time.
  • Acceptable collared or mock turtleneck shirts must be tucked in at all times and must be free from stains, holes or wrinkles. Ladies may wear a collarless top with sleeves or sleeveless top with a collar provided shoulders and back are covered. Tank tops and tee shirts are prohibited.
  • Bermuda length dress shorts are permitted. Dresses, skirts and skorts are permissible provided no more than 4-1/2" above the knee is exposed. Cargo shorts, denim or gym shorts are prohibited.
  • Hats are not permitted to be worn anywhere inside the clubhouse, with the exception for ladies.
  • Shoes must be worn at all times, except in the locker room. Flip flops, open-toed shoes with or without socks are not acceptable footwear. Ladies are permitted to wear open-toed dress shoes.
  • When sport jackets are required they are to be worn with long slacks.

That can't be right. According to the experts on here it's only us Brits who make up and abide by rules.

I know, apparently we only invented the game so we could create committees and have a load of silly rules that are daft!

Those guys back in the 1764 building the first 18 hole course must be laughing in their graves the way they stitched us up.

I wouldn't wear joggers anywhere other than in my house, even though I don't actually own any.
I will own up to a pair of Crocs that I only wear in the garden.
Since covid and work from home my main attire is either shorts or joggers. I look like one of those lunatics when taking the boy to school when it's cold and I've got a pair of shorts on the bottom with a hoodie and gilet on the top.

Only problem with shorts and joggers are they are very good at hiding the expanding waistline, it's only when I go to put jeans on I notice it.

Don't also forget that Americans like wearing caps on or off the course. I've been in a range of places with Americans present and caps on at all times, indoors or out, is pretty standard.

I have cousins in the US. Every post on social media it seems all the men are wearing caps, whether indoors or out.

And yet we embraced their handicap system!🙈

We played Sawgrass and my mate asked in the pro shop if he could go into the bar/ restaurant in T-shirt shorts and flip flops.
“ no problem sir” was the answer.

@PaulMdj i don't doubt some clubs won't allow caps indoors but I suspect the default is crack on. Different attitudes and culture.
Nope, no, no, no, severe case of backtracking…
And I quote:
“Clubhouses in the states won't have the rule, it wouldn't enter their minds to have it.”

Can’t see the word some or default.😛

But we didn't did we! We embraced the old one... Had to be different 😂 until we realised their new way was better now we are implementing it ..
You really need to address some of the information you post!

The WHS was brought about by the R&A and USGA bringing together the main 6 handicap systems used throughout the world.

We realised nothing!

Sorry but your wrong.

We brought in the USA OLD. System. Fact.

We are now going to be using their NEW System again a fact

Ask @rulefan

He will explain the difference between how CR is used in the USA at compared to ours in working out your playing handicap

So I stand by what I said because it was correct
