Countback - help needed urgently!

I'm running my first group event tomorrow, the guys are playing a full handicap stablford, but I've just realised I don't know how countback works. Can someone posiibly do a quick idiots guide and bail me out please??:mmm:

It can, and does.

In line with the principle, you can take each hole back from 18 ie compare the 17th, then 15th, 14th, 12th, 11th, 9th etc

If they scored the same on every hole ...

I cant stand countback, why is the back more important that the front?

Heres my plan. When players are tied, lowest gross should win BEFORE you look at countback

I lost a medal recently on count back over the last six holes. Same handicap and same gross score so all very tight.. if only I hadn't airmailed the 15th green with my approach!

Apply the same process to the front nine - 9 / 6 / 3 / 1

Well the day went very well, luckily had a clear top 3 so need for any countbacks. Altough I was more than a bit shocked when, after telling everyone on the first tee we were playing stableford, to be handed a couple of cards with gross scores, to be told when I asked what the stableford scores were, 'oh, I don't know how to do stableford'
