What prizes do you get for winning comps at your club.At mine you get vouchers to spend in the local golf shop. For the bigger comps you get a cup and your name put on a wooden plaque in the club house. I've got a few to spend from recent exploits in medals and stablefords

Every medal winner receives a sweep of money, ammount depends on entry levels, sometimes £40. They will also receive some engraved glassware at end of season. Bigger club comps have their names on the boards and also glassware.
each comp also runs a 2's sweep for balls.

Ditto at my club. Before anyone asks, the sweep money comes from a small competition entry fee. Usually there is enough for 1st, 2nd and 3rd on w/end comps.

Have only won one Medal at my club so far....but at least I got a medal, a rather nice one, too. I know some clubs who don't give you one. Sweep money, too.

My highly treasured only medal. Will go to my grave with it as it included my only ever hole in one!

John, I think your club are at it with the voucher scheme as it is a sweep and all monies should then be divided between the winners. In our Open we get vouchers for the local shop but sweep is what it is ... a sweep.

I won a few "medals" in my time but not a real medal!! just a voucher for a few balls or something from the pro shop.

The big "open" summer comp 3 weeks after I got married had some cracking prizes.....typical that I came 4th and won a dinner service :(......after getting one for wedding gift.....I would have preferred the telly or a driver!!

Royal Ascot seems to be in line with most. Medal and stableford competitions are divided into divisions with the top 3 taking a share of the entry money as vouchers for use in the pro shop.

At end of season presentation, medal winners receive a small medal similar to J_F. If it is a gold board event the winner will receive a replica trophy and obviously have thier name on the honours board for all time.

Money on the account in the Pro Shop and some sort of medal/trophy. Pro's Prize tends to be something out of his shop, likewise the Captains Prize tends to come out the Pro Shop too.

Only the Club Champion gets their name on the wall in the Clubhouse.

- - question - - How do other guys sweep money get paid out - ours goes on our account in the Pro Shop which bugs some people as they don't necessarily want to spend it in the Pro Shop. Money awarded for club comps on account isn't an issue but some feel the sweep should come back directly into our pockets, not the club (hotel) till.

Money in the account, medals, trophies and shop sweep usually ends up in our accounts too, it all helps to keep us in balls and gloves!!

Our sweeps are straight cash in an envelope, Mark. By calling it a sweep rather than a prize the club can get round the amateur status rule. My sweep money goes straight across the bar or the club restaurant usually.

John, that is how I'd like our sweeps to be handled. History is against me though.

Down the Middle - is your vouchers Union Vouchers (used at a variety of golf shops) or vouchers specific to your own Pro Shop?

Sweep money, club vouchers and small mementos at the prize giving dinner at the end of the season are all fine. The main thing is that you have your name engraved on whatever trophy you've won. It's there for all to see in the display case if they look closly enough! And no-one can take that away from you.

Yep agreed, money or voucher's dont matter it's the name on trophy's and our name's that go down in the history of the club.

If you lot may remember I said that I was going to do my talking on the golf course this year. Well just by chance yesterday I played with the guy who was part of the dissaplinary committee that put me up the road last year. Not through choice.
Well my partner and I took them on and boy did we blow them away. Every shot I took had his face imprinted on it. It was great to deliver such punishment. Revenge is sweet.
