Club Throwing after a Bad Shot

Personally I have not resorted to this for many years, (the club broke and I had an expensive repair bill). However, yesterday we were waiting on the tee of a par 3 for the group in front to finish the hole. One of them obviously missed a short putt and then threw his putter towards the next tee. He must have chucked it a good fifty yards, probably the furthest I have ever seen a club thrown. Funny at the time though.

I broke the shaft on a SW whilst giving it a half arsed chuck. Lesson learnt, it gets 100% commitment on the helicopter now!!

I used to play with a guy who had the worst club throwing habit ever.
Once on the 6th hole playing in a 3 ball,we heard some rustling high
up in the tree by the green.
Looking up and then seeing his putter fall down from 50ft was very funny at the time.
Also on the 9th after a duffed fairway shot with his 3 wood,he then launched it into
the bushes about 60-70 yards ahead.
I try not to let it effect me,the good thing is you know you have a club chucker beat.

I used to whack my bag after a bad shot on occasion too. I stopped this after doing so, hearing a snap, then watching my driver slide down my bag. The shaft had snapped in two.

not a club trower myself, but i used to play with a guy when i first started who was terrible for it. lost two putters if my memory serves me right. One up a tree and one in a large pond, both Loch Ness Golf Club.

Not a club thrower myself, I think I'm too tight, I'd be devastated if I had to buy a new club because of it.

A mate of mine did that and bent 4 of his iron shafts, he won't do that again

My mate chucked a 3w and it landed in a thick bramble and we couldnt find it again. Later that year in the Autumn we went back when it had died back a bit and luckily found it! And I agree if you going to throw a club then you need to helicopter it.

Not a club chucker myself. I tend to turn the air blue for a minute or so after a bad shot. Then I'm good to go again

I used to play with a chap who regular dropped clubs after a bad shot and walked around them for about 30 seconds ranting.






When it's every other shot it becomes a little tiresome :angry:

Guilty as charged. Whacked my sand wedge against the bag and 4 holes later I needed my 3 wood, Pulled it out of the bag to play a shot and the shaft had just snapped in half. To say I was gutted was an understatement . Havent done it since.

Did snap a SW over my knee at Moray last year in frustration but that doesn't count as throwing that's anger management issues.:smirk:

If you are a club thrower, always, always, throw it forwards down the fairway/towards the next tee,etc, so as not to hold up play.:cheers:

Do it as a junior years ago learned my lesson when broke my wedge. Wouldn't do it again now I just have a little swear to myself

i have been known to just let go and drop a club after a bad shot, not chuck though!

More a dropper than a chucker me like. Mate of mine in Oz picked up his entire bag and chucked them in the lake. Promptly marched to the clubhouse, got steaming and has not played again since...

A 'firm return' into the bag has been known with a flamboyant Velcro release of the glove. Scary stuff.

A good haywain in long rough after the ball has shot out 45 degrees left at knee height.

Nothing beats a full helicopter with the immediate post-release panic on direction or likelihood of breakage,

If I threw a club after every bad shot I would be carrying an empty bag for most of the round.

don't think i've ever thrown a club. they get a good slam back into the bag from time to time but that's it. Having an old school three divider bag allows for easy slam access!
