At your home course can you get to all your holes in regulation in normal conditions?

We have a short course around 6000 yds but only one par5 . I am a fairly short hitter . Without a following wind or rock hard fairways there are a couple of holes which I struggle to get to in regulation. One I can on occasions but it is pretty rare the other is gently uphill with a slightly elevated plateau green and although not seriously long (430 yds) the fairway is rarely running fast and is one I very rarely get to in regulation and only under abnormal circumstances like a following wind or rock hard fairways. It plays into the prevailing wind, though the other day the wind had changed and I had a following wind and got there in tow but missed an eight footer for what would have been only my second ever birdie in 20+ years at the club.

Yes , and I am also able to reach 2 of our 3 par fives in two. Getting my SS up into the high 90s is the reason behind this.

I can reach them all in regulation but a goodly number of the members can't, even playing off forward tees.
We have one par 4 that CVG can't even reach the fairway from the tee....

Our longest par4 is the first hole; usually into the wind. Always hate that because if you’re squeezing in a round or few holes then you’re not warmed up so your shortest drive of the day is on just about the only hole a modest but average hitter would need a long one to reach in two.

No, not even close. If we exclude the par 3 holes

I can reach 1 on the front 9, 3 on the back 9.

Even my country best will not get me there on the others. This is off the yellows, 6,390yds.

If I go off the whites, 6,781, I can reach 1. I don't play off the whites 😄

Depends on what you classify as regular conditions. If we have a 20mph+ wind (which is often) there is 1 hole I'll struggle to get to in regulation depending on the wind direction, it will need 2 middled hits. If westerly then I'll struggle with 11, if easterly it will be 10. Both are 420-430 yard par 4's.

At my old club there was a 460 yard par 4 that played into the prevailing wind and it would often be a drive, 3 wood and chip during the early/late season until the fairway dried out. When I played it the other week I hit driver/7 iron through the back.

Nope, there's five par 4's I cant get to under normal conditions off comp tees and likely a par 5 too
So a third of the course is out of reach for GIR without thinking about poor shots missing other greens, with 4 of the 6 on the front nine I can easily use (waste) a lot of my handicap before the turn

It depends on the weather conditions. On our 17th Par 4 I can sometimes reach it with a drive and short iron, other days I can't get near with a drive and fairway wood.
We have 2 x 200+ yard Par 3's which are very difficult for most members to reach in one.

No, my index is 6.1 and if the prevailing wind is blowing reasonably and the fairways are lush there are 3 or 4 par 4s I can’t reach. We have 6 longish par 4s of 409, 419, 424, 424, 452 and 457. 2 of these are uphill and 3 are straight into the wind.

Hmm.. 'can I' and 'will I' are probably different questions. In decent conditions, then yeah, I can reach them all just about - some of the par 4s would require a very good drive followed by a good fairway wood though. And in winter that would then become an extremely good drive and extremely good fairway wood, so the chances then are slim and none. So in winter I'd say there are four holes that I would not expect to reach in regulation - three par 4s and a 215-yard uphill par 3.

Our 11th and 12th are par4's of around 460 yards, there's only a few of the very long hitters who can get up in 2 if they are into the prevailing wind, I'm not overly short and I can usually only get to around about 20 yards from the green, our par for the back 9 is 34 it's more realistically around 38 if the wind is really blowing

My course is just under 6500 par 70. In summer I only use driver 2 or 3 times. I'm pretty long for my age, probably just under forum average.

Yes pretty easily, just under 6500 in length. All 3 par 5’s I can reach in 2, around 500 yards each one. But doesn’t make it an easy track, 220 yard par 3 plus a handful of 400+ par 4’s. And if not hitting fairways you’ve no chance.

We have an uphill par 4 which is around 450 ish.
If I hit my best drive and best 5 wood with firm fairways and a following wind I might just creep on...
... I'll let you know if that particular sequence of unlikely events ever comes together...
That's the only one though, and we have a few par 4s that are a 9 iron or wedge as a second shot to make up for it. No one shot par4s though (for me) which is a shame.

Agreed. No wind I can reach everything in regulation with 2 great shots.
In the prevailing wind I can’t reach 11 & 12. 14 and 18 are also difficult to reach with any reasonable head wind.

No.

Our 13th is a 456yd par 4.

The first 300 yards are up hill. Even hitting a good 250yd drive will leave 200yds to go...however the upslope, where you play your second shot from, turns your three wood into a 5 wood...and there is no way I'm hitting 5 wood 200yds.

Drive, 3 wood, try to wedge close, and 1putt.

Up to my late 60s the answer would have been yes. Now in my 70s the answer is no.

There are 2 on the course I can no longer reach in regulation, both par 4s, but they are the two hardest holes on the course with SI rankings of 1 and 2
