Are prices getting out of hand?

So I spotted that Scottdale are doing the M1(2016) 3 wood for £149. It prompted me to go and have a look on ebay and you can hardly get a skymarked one for that. Cheap prices are now are clearly killing the second hand market.

I would guess that stock will run out soon.

I'm very surprised at that.
There's been plenty of brand new M1 (2016) fairways on eBay for £149 free delivery
Mammories1 being a very good reliable seller I'd recommend on eBay
Don't know current stock levels with them though, but I've friends that bought the 3 wood and 3HL model M1 off them, at £149

They're a pro shop and will discount if deal direct too

Yes, and the is the reason I have never bought brand new woods or irons (only took the plunge on wedges and putter)

I would rather buy last seasons gear and invest the difference in lessons

But I can fully understand the allure of new clubs...I just cant legitimise the cost.

Were that price on Jamgolf pre xmas, and if you bought a driver for £250 they gave you £50 off it making it £99, so £350 for the pair (sorted of regretting not pulling the trigger lol)

I have come close a number of times to grabbing a 3 wood and then getting a shaft fit but I just have no need for it.... Still, that never stopped me before.

Will we be seeing you with a M? driver?

My comment was more about those trying to sell their second hand kit v the same prices. That said, the new prices on Ebay were higher too....

I think anyone chasing better performance with new tech is chasing rainbows. The R&A are pretty strict regarding equipment, I've not seen any real difference in my driver with current stuff (did a comparison with the new M2 vs. my XR) strangely nothing really worth changing for except a cosmetic one.

Saying that I might wait until the XR16 comes cheaper and trade up.

Get used to it!

#brexit

Will be the excuse/reason that will now forever be given...well we asked for it.

Anyway - on the OP - I'm not interested in buying any new gear.

Now that I've got my golf back on track I will invest in a few lessons to make sure that I am not doing anything 'fatal' that would be a serious mistake to get engrained in my swing - even if at the moment it seems to have started to work reasonably well.

Yes prices are getting out of hand. Just refuse to buy any new gear until the prices drop. New equipment isn't going to improve your game unless the stuff you currently have is a poor fit for you.

Spend the money on lessons.

I remember my callaway lw and 1 iron that i got moons ago were 140 or 150 quid each with graphite shafts..
This was at least 15 years ago..

Ye, we should have stayed locked into a dictatorship so that middle class fools could buy cheap golf equipment.... brilliant.

Dont yall have your own post you can go cry in?!

Usual sort of nice and reasoned retort we are getting used to hearing from Leavers. Why so touchy sir? Don't you remember - you won - get over it! :)

/yawn.... you have got nothing have you. Nothing...

And you have - Leave won the day. But many of those of us who voted Remain will push however we can for the least damaging exit deal :)

And as I, like most who voted Remain , have accepted that we are leaving the EU, I think that it is about time that those who voted Leave accept that I, and those like-minded, have every right to voice our concerns and wishes in respect of exiting.

Anyway - as ger147 suggests - back to the cost of kit

In a word 'Yep' but it only effects the 'tackle tarts' amongst us, I personally am more than happy to feed off of the scraps from someone else's table...

As I've said in previous posts and I'll say again, I recently picked up a set of 2yr old 'Speedblades' for a little over 100 notes (106 to be exact) rich pickings indeed for those with any eye for a bargain...

Indeed. I'm quite proud of myself just bagging an SLDR 3 wood for 50 quid  I love all this new gear coming out.

Agree that these prices are horrendous, but also know that for certain clubs they have been similar for several years.
It isn't a cheap sport but having just replaced my irons, driver and fairway wood (as below) I am still happy that it isn't costing too much relatively speaking.

My last irons and driver were bought about 8 years ago and my fairway wood was even older. If these new clubs last as long I will feel I have had value for money. Other pastimes can be just as/more expensive.

Appreciate its different if you are a serial club changer though!

£429 for the new TaylorMade M1 and £469 for the new Callaway GBB Epic (AG online prices this morning).

Ouch...
