If you thought the 917 range were a bit expensive, gird your loins for a glance at the new M1 prices.
M1 fairway - £279
M1 Driver -£479

M1 fairway will be £20 less than a G driver at American Golf, the driver - same money as a set of G irons....

With the Callaway Epic being touted at similar prices, is it all just getting a bit silly..?

Last year's M1 Driver came in at a shop price of £399 if I remember.....a hike of £80 for a club that many see as being no better than the one it replaces is eye-watering.
And £280 - for a fairway......

Welcome to 2017....

While enough people continue to pay these prices then there is no incentive for the manufacturers to reduce them.

If there aren't enough buyers, then prices will fall, even if it's just to reduce the stock before the next latest and greatest comes along.

There's no rule that says you have to have the latest kit, only players' vanity.

A similar thing was being mooted in 2008, when prices Sky rocketed. Then the financial crash hit and prices dropped dramatically. Looks like the manufacturers are flexing their muscles again.

Rip off Britain?

Not arguing with that. Never have, never will.
My point is that an original M1 can be had in the same shop for more than £200 less....And was originally on sale for £80 less.
With, it appears, little gain over the previous effort, the question is what's the justification for the price hike to these levels?

With the American Golf trade in deal that's now been running about 5 months I can't believe anyone who wanted new gear hasn't already got It!

There isn't one and the manufacturers don't need one.

Whilst people search for the holy grail in a club that will solve all their problems on the course and pay these prices nothing will change,

I changed my driver yesterday from my fitted SLDR to a Ping Rapture that cost £60 I think and played the best I have for some time, people just chase the dream and think they can buy instant improvements 🤔 Well you can, if you spent the same amount of money on lessons instead of a new driver 😜🏌️

The manufacturers play and prey on the weak 😜😜

I just think golf gear is like everything else thats sold, the marketeers are very good at telling you how much you will gain and that you DO need that item. The gains are always marginal, but it's between the ears that makes the difference. Get that right, and they can milk it as much as they can until the next best thing comes along.
The strong ones are those that stand back and say " mine is good enough...I dont need the new stuff". Let the idiots buy their new drivers every year I say, it gives us something to talk and laugh about.:)

I think prices have gone truly crazy.

my irons were £569 for 4-PW (716 AP1)
wedges were around £75 each (SM5 vokeys)
M2 driver £279
M2 HL 3 wood £140 (ebay in wrapper)

thats what ive paid in the last year and I think ive shopped around and got some bargains but built myself a respectable set

I cant imagine paying £479 for one driver! thats £200 more than my M2 which is a very good driver (imo of course) I just couldnt justify paying that when I could get a driver, wedge and fairway wood for the cost of that 1 driver

however people will pay it, hats off to them I just wouldnt

well said. on top of my investment in clubs (30th bday treat) I got myself a set of 4 lessons to learn how to hit them properly

I priced the Vokeys yesterday as my 56* is starting to look a bit raggy. £119 is way more that the £79 you paid.

shop around! I found 2 of mine on ebay in their wrappers for £75 each well one was 65 with 8 delivery so that was basically £75, one of the sellers was a pro dunno about the other

my last 2 vokeys one was off this forum £45, and the other was from my old teaching pro for £70

last years model tho

Anyone remember the Callaway ERC driver? Sure when that was released it was £499, that was a good 8 maybe 10 years ago. Guess it won't be long before they break the £500 mark.

Get used to it!

#brexit

Not entirely true that Brexit is having much of an effect.

More a change of policy by the manufacturers. Fewer units, higher prices, bigger margin per unit.

Our Trans atlantic cousins are experiencing the same sort of price hikes and many are just as unhappy.

Shop around.

My cf16's were 829.00 in AG, I paid 575.00 two weeks after they were released.
My xr16 3w & 5w are £189, I paid 80.00 each ex demo's like new

My point is just because you have the latest gear doesn't mean you have to be ripped off at RRP. Patience is a virtue

Prices are only out of hand for those who must have it now!
