Are prices getting out of hand?

Quite simple - if you don't think it's worth spending the money or is too expensive then don't buy the top end stuff - there are plenty of drivers , irons sets , putters etc at very reasonable prices suitable for all budgets

No one "has" to buy the latest and newest bit of kit

I think we know that already. We're just having a discussion.

It's all got me a bit baffled. Not so long ago TM were pushing their 'Speed Pocket', allowing the face to flex for greater distance. Now Callaway are stiffening the face up to take the flex out for...well, greater distance. C'mon guys, which is it?

Jailbreak stiffens the crown and sole and, allegedly, allows the face to flex more.
But as Murph says, with the CoR already on the limit you do wonder how this wouldn't exceed 0.83....

This.. there are enough golf clubs on the planet that if they stopped making them right now we would be ok for a long while. It's just consumerism. Pay it or don't.

Ahh, gotcha. That makes a bit more sense

Rick Shiels was saying the head almost feels solid, not hollow.
I assume some energy is lost in the minute flexing of the sole and crown.
If they can harness that and transfer it to the ball without the face actually flexing more then it should translate to faster ball speeds....
