I still get members telling me I can't use my SC5 in the medals because they think I have an unfair advantage
But that's only until they've seen you hit your first shot Homer.

Hi
Just for you
Rule 8-1/2
A player may not obtain distance information from another competitor IF that distance information was obtained via an artifical device (allowed by Local Rule). Penalty DQ

A player asks me if I know the distance. I (believing distance is not advice) offer "there's the 150 marker, so you've got about 170".....that's allowed. On the next hole (a long hole) he asks me the distance again, I look at my skycaddie and say "280 yards".....he's DQ'd.....![]()

In the rules of advice as I remember, if he asks he's d/q'd and if you give it, so are you.

Yes you are wrong as quoted above.Under 'definitions' page 30 of the book, distance does not qualify as advice. So yes, you can tell your partner, and also your opponents.
My understanding is that it is OK to tell your partner BUT it is a penalty to offer or to be asked by an opponent to provide yardage information if it is obtained via GPS/Laser.
I could be wrong but i am sure i read this in "Decisions"
