Had a mare in a fairway bunker today , 3 to get out :p

Anyway 170 ish left into the wind

Spanked a mid iron to 3 ft ( made the putt for a 6) :D

Played some decent golf today but that mid iron was MY highlight

Over to you.

I've had a few big changes to my swing in the last month which have been great when I get it right and disastrous when I get it wrong. I hit a 7i on 16 today that was as good as any shot I've ever hit. It's those shots which tell me what I'm doing is worth persevering with.

Missed the green on our par 3 11th, pin high but left me with a very tricky shot. Very narrow green where the pin was placed. Flopped a 60* lobber up which trickled past missing by an inch stopping 6 inches from the hole. Was made to put out :/

Great idea.

Nice to read about good shots as we can all pull out from time to time.

Will add the next time I can.

Keep it up.

Brilliant time to start a post like this.

11th hole 165 yard par 3 at Mapperley today, I hit a sweet 8 iron with a tiny bit of draw that checked once then released straight into the hole.
First hole in one during a comp, over the moon!

I know you got into a bit of a heated debate in the on-course snack thread but IMHO your signature makes you look a bit pathetic.

That shouldn't be in a rolling thread, you should start a thread dedicated to your hole in one!

Nice shot sir!

Slapped my irons the last two weeks. Put my old set in today but still didn't hit a good shot till the 13th. Bit by bit they started firing, but was hitting the ball through the back. Finally, second shot to 18 into a stiff breeze. 6 iron 140 yds to 10 feet. Left the birdie putt short but came off happy that for the last 5 holes I'd stopped slapping.

75yards to the pin and hit a nice smooth 56*. Everything clicked, crisp ball first contact and ball went exactly where I had intended. One bounce and it checked up and spun back to beside the pitch mark. About 6 feet past the pin. Shaved the edge with the putt but the shot felt great.

Playing the 12th at Pyrford, island green par 5. Went for it in two from 200 yards - just as I hit it, all the wind dropped and the ball took a lovely aerial photo of the flag as it flew over and landed softly (with some backspin) right in the middle of the bloody water. Was a great shot though.

Short sided yesterday in the rough. Linear method and flopped it over the bank to three feet and holed the putt to steal the hole with a par as the opponents then three putted from about 15 feet. Arguably about as much as I did for the team and got carried by my partner to a degree.

I went to Whitby for the weekend, sneaked out for 9 holes late Saturday afternoon to Whitby GC, never played there before but drove the par 4 first to about 10 feet and the missed the eagle putt, annoying as I rarely putt for eagle these days, the 9 holes went downhill after that

1st hole in the medal, knobbed it with the driver left into the rough, hacked out side ways, it took a big bounce and went in the rough on the other side. so faced with a 196 yard shot into a 2 club wind from the rough!!

Thought bugger it might as well try and go for it.

Flushed a 3 iron , that juts bounced short of the green and ran up to the pin... almost went it and left a 2 inch put for par;)

My two playing partners were both middle of the fairway off the tee and neither made 4!

I played my first ever birdie (well, first one on a proper golf course, anyway, had a few on a pitch and putt) yesterday. While that is a feat in it's own right, the way I did it was downright ridiculous. It happened on our longest par 3 (180 yards from the ladies' tees), so I hit driver off the tee and sliced it way to the right. It left me in an awful position, about 75 yards from the edge of the green, deep in the trees. My only option was a low long chip. I chose my 5 iron, becasue the lie was decent enough and I wanted to keep the ball as low as possible. I knew I had hit it well as soon as the ball left the clubface and I swear, that ball was never going anywhere but straight towards the hole. It flew about a third of the way, skipped and hopped a bit and then just kept rolling and rolling until it fell in. Easy as that.
