Your ' Shot of the round' rolling thread

Full on shank on our par3 second, hit a tree 10yds out of bounds flush on the trunk and came back in.

Didn't make the same mistake on the 2nd shot by ensuring a low scuttling shank made it comfortably OB.

Fair play to you Darren, I admire your strength of mind in being able to put that mistake out of your mind and controlling the trajectory of the second shank

Let me know if you ever want a chipping lesson

The wedge to 8' after the drop took some balls and was a nice shot to be fair.

Got to love a shank :)

Ha ha, I hit a beautiful power shank with a wedge last night

Haven't had one for a long time, was a beauty though, right out the middle of the hosel!

Two today.

A smooth 5 iron into the wind that I measured on the GPS at 195 yards.

After a good drive on the par 5 18th I was in the rough but ball sitting okay, just over 250 yards to go with the wind behind, I couldn't see the green as trees were in the way. Optimistically took 5 wood and caught it well on what looked to be a good line, when I walked round the trees the ball was not only on the green but on the correct tier as well with a 20 foot putt for eagle, just missed on the high side but a tap in birdie on that hole felt very nice.

I've had a few big changes to my swing in the last month which have been great when I get it right and disastrous when I get it wrong. I hit a 7i on 16 today that was as good as any shot I've ever hit. It's those shots which tell me what I'm doing is worth persevering with.

OK, so it turns out the shot above really wasn't that good. I had another lesson last night and the latest tweak to my swing and following that, I have now realised that I have never hit a proper golf shot in my life. Until today that is, today I hit several actual proper golf shots. My favourite was a 7i on 7, the pin was on the right (the raised part) behind the bunker. Usually I wouldn't even dream of taking that flag on, partly because the bunker shot is a pig and partly because my low ball flight means I'd never hold the green. With my ball flight now much higher I decided to give it a go, and I absolutely flushed it.

I have never been so excited about playing golf as I am right now. I never thought I could hit the ball this well.

Does a hole in one count as my shot of the round?
The 4th at Sherwood Forest, into a howling gale from just over 180, I hit a low punchy 5 iron which landed about 6 feet short of the pin and bounced and rolled in
Happy days😃🏌

The most impressive thing about this is that you can hit 5i 180yds into a howling gale.

Yesterday - 209yd par 3 playing into a stiff 2 o'clock wind with flag RHS of green. Nice high gently drawing 4 wood started off right of the green - pitched on green and stopped about 6ft. Missed the putt mind.

Playing rubbish and chances of the major gone, bad drive down tough 12th ended up in the line of trees 180 from the green. Only a arrow straight shot would suffice. (A slice right would be out of bounds, nothing for left). Down hill lie. Full smack with my Adams hybrid to 3 meters. Two putts par. Smiled again.

Wow, congratulations!

I'm celebrating if I just hit that green!

Cheers, it is a good hole on a really good course. I can't believe it's the 1st time I've played there and I only live an hour away!

Nothing nearly as cool as a nice hole in one but yesterday I had a wedge 123 yds into a green sloping away, with pin tucked away to the right on a small shelf approximately 3x3 yds.

Found said shelf and felt rather pleased with myself until I missed the putt. Smugness level reduced from 'politician' to 'meh'.

This was not recent but i still want to post!

In a singles match, my opponent knocked his tee shot on a par 3 to less than a foot, i was in the greenside bunker (Pretty steep maybe a 4 foot lip)

Concede the putt, holed my bunker shot for a half, next hole, he rolls in a 40 footer for birdie I knocked in a 15 footer for eagle

Guy went birdie birdie and lost a hole and also the match, most satisfying.

18th hole, the weather had got really bad, raining out the heavens. 125 yards out with a downhill lie onto a fairway about 10 yards downhill, strong cross wind.

Made that super sweet contact sending it high and to the right of the green, little bit of draw and wind and it bounced, tiny bit of check and 1 foot putt for birdie.

Love ending on a high note.
