Your ' Shot of the round' rolling thread

1st hole in the medal, knobbed it with the driver left into the rough, hacked out side ways, it took a big bounce and went in the rough on the other side. so faced with a 196 yard shot into a 2 club wind from the rough!!

Thought bugger it might as well try and go for it.

Flushed a 3 iron , that juts bounced short of the green and ran up to the pin... almost went it and left a 2 inch put for par;)

My two playing partners were both middle of the fairway off the tee and neither made 4!

must have been gutted to have only made par to their birdies :whistle::thup:

Two for me from the last time I played. One was a drive on our Si 8 par 5 with oob left into the Manchester ship canal... Came right out of the screws drew in nicely to the left side of the fairway leaving an 8 iron to green. Cue leaving the eagle putt 3 ft short... Made birdie though. 2nd was 8 iron on out 9th hole with oob left and strong right to left wind. Sent the ball well off to the right, big high draw landed and rolled just past the pin, down the hill, gasp of breath, could have been close, nobody really knows really.... Missed the birdie putt back up the hill.... :)

Really didn't hit many good shots on Saturday despite shooting 37 points.

Best shot of the round was probably my birdie putt on our 2nd.

Downhill, left to right. Around 30 foot, deadweight right in the middle of the hole.

Yesterdays medal - Dodgy lie in the rough on the 11th, about 35/40 yards out. Played a lovely flop shot to the green stopped 3 foot from the pin, sunk the put for par.

Following a big drive the par 5 14th (SI2) was reachable with the wind behind. About 230 out, I made perfect contact with the hybrid and as I watched it soar straight as an arrow into the distance I had two thoughts. 1. I could not have hit that better. 2. It's all over the pin.

It landed 20 yards short of the green and kicked diagonally right into a bunker. One of a half dozen horrendous kicks that cost me my sanity out there yesterday.

Great shot, bad result.

nothing worse than a bad bounce on a long hit in to a green

Par 4 14th, playing 350 off the whites. M2 driver and drove to within a yard of the green and just made the fringe. Hole plays downhill and wind was behind today - also thought the air was thin as a lot of shots were going long.

No really great shots last weekend - just pretty solid all round, with a couple of (very) frustrating mistakes!

Last weekend had a couple of cracking shots though, hitting the pin 3 times, but the real gems were a flop from about 8 yards (pin was tight) to 6" for par and a bunker shot to about the same for birdie! 58* was going well!

Sunday stableford at Balbirnie, playing the 12th with 230 to the pin for my 2nd, pulled a 3 wood thinking if I hit it well I can reach, big hook into serious cabbage country, dropped another and flushed it to 4 feet !!!!, so much easier 2nd time lol. Needless to say I never even bothered to look for my 1st and duly holed the putt for possibly the best bogey of my life.

After my drive being a bit too short and my second and third shot going slightly waywards, I hit a very nice 6iron into our par 5 9th hole from a blind position behind some high fur trees. I was not sure the ball would clear the trees, but it did and landed right on the flag. It hopped on a bit and of course I missed the putt for par, but I was still absolutely happy, I take bogey on that hole any day, especially after a bumpy start like that.

In the worst form of my life at the moment. 2 pars in 2 rounds :( but anyway, last round, 18th hole, par 5, drove into the trees. Had to chip out pretty much side ways. Probably 260 to the hole. Hit my 2 hybrid about 230 straight down the middle, leaving myself a nice 58 deg chip shot. Stuck that to 5 foot and drained the putt for par. Always nice to end on a par. The hybrid was the shot that made it tho.

Wondered round the back 9 holes last night with my old, on the 14th I had 173 to go and duffed my approach shot. Not happy with the strike I hit another and it landed 2 ft short of the holes and dropped in after one hop.
I parred with the other ball as well.

Had a mare in a fairway bunker today , 3 to get out :p

Anyway 170 ish left into the wind

Spanked a mid iron to 3 ft ( made the putt for a 6) :D

Played some decent golf today but that mid iron was MY highlight

Over to you.

Played at a new course a couple of weeks ago. Woodside Golf, off the M6 in Cheshire. On the 7th, a 240 yard par 4 I spanked my drive up the right but lost sight of it in the sun. Decided to hit a provisional. Didn't catch it as cleanly but it looked to be slicing right. Decided to walk up and see what was happening. Got about 180 yards up and realised water cuts in from the right. Great, I though. 2 lost balls then. Then I saw a ball on the far bank. That'll be my first I thought to myself. Got to it and it was my second. Now I was really flummoxed because I couldn't see my first anywhere. And I usually struggle getting much over 200 yards. Then I saw a ball on the green. Thought someone must have left a practise shot out or something but went to investigate. It was my first. Pin high, just on the edge of the green. Couldn't believe my eyes! Fluffed the eagle putt, but still down for a birdie.
Looked at it on Game Golf later and it was 241 yards. My longest drive by a distance. Made my day!

Played last night in a comp, full HCAP stableford from the whites.

Went out horrifically, 12 points. Came back in with 23 points! (so you can all guess where my best shot came?)

Thought about this thread on the par 4 16th, downhill, lots of roll on the fairways. Lovely views across South Yorkshire with a magnificent sunset. Sweet as a nut drive rolled out to 291 yards. Could not believe it, my best drives are 210-215 yards.

BUT... fast forward one hole. Par 3 17th. 180 yards from the whites. Hardest par 3 on the course, hardest green by far on the course and I stuck my 21 degree hybrid to a foot. Obviously guttered I didnt make a HIO, especially because it was past the hole - so had a sniff... Made the birdie putt, 2s money and nett 1. Chuffed to bits, first 2 i 've had on a par 3 in my life too

Played in the singles quarter final last night. Stood on 14 with my opponent in the middle of the fairway and watched him put his approach to 4 feet. So he was there in Nett 1, as it was a stroke hole. I knew I needed a good one. Only problem was that with the angle I had, the pin was cut just behind the bunker.

Played a low PW over the corner of the bunker, it took one bounce and then spun sideways towards the hole, stopping 2 feet away.

Classic matchplay - having thought he had the hole won, he missed his putt and i rolled in my birdie for a half 😮

One of those rare times when you play a difficult, risky shot and it comes off. Pretty ridiculous, too, as it came on the back of a double bogey at 13, where I missed the green from 30yds

this probably won't impress anyone on here but i got par on a 163 yard par 3. i had a sizeable putt for my first ever birdie but my arse went. i played the same course 2 days later and put the ball exactly where the pin was 2 days prior. how we laughed...

Full on shank on our par3 second, hit a tree 10yds out of bounds flush on the trunk and came back in.

Didn't make the same mistake on the 2nd shot by ensuring a low scuttling shank made it comfortably OB.

The wedge to 8' after the drop took some balls and was a nice shot to be fair.

Got to love a shank :)
