About 12 years ago I was playing golf with an American airman at Ely Golf Club in Cambridgeshire,I hit my drive on a par 5 and ended up in a grass covered area surrounded by tree`s off the fairway.I saw a gap in the trees and really fancied a go at the dance floor so I pulled out my 3 wood  and gave it an almighty whack for the ball to clatter into trees....rebound behind me... rattle about in half a dozen more trees and drop EXACTLY where I hit it from...much laughter could be heard from my playing partner!.I didnt even have to move to play it again :) .

Undoubtedly my 'bouncing bomb' drive at The Manor House (Castle Combe) a few years ago. Can't recall what hole it was but the tee box was in front of a lake (about 100 cards carry if I remember rightly). My ball didn't get more than a foot off the floor, bounced/skimmed 3 or 4 times on the lake and popped out into the middle of the fairway on the otherside. Narrowly missed a swan with the same shot! Think I made bogey. Good times :D

Hitting a swan with a thomas tank!

Not exactly bizarre but I did hit the clubhouse at Hopeman with a sliced tee shot. Ball clattered off the roof and ended up greenside; got my par . I'm probably not the first or last to hit the clubhouse at that hole....

Had a shocking round that day, come to think of it, must've lost about a dozen balls in the whins.....

Hit a horse once that appeared from behind some bushes as the ball was in mid air. THe poor old dear riding it was holding on for grim death as it shot down the horse track. It was fine and the rider none the worse for he ordeal. As for the ball, it ricocheted back into the rough and I made bogey

match play with a friend, the loser picking up the bill at the local indian after.

all square on the 17th tee 370 yard par 4,

i hit an ok drive, mid iron left.

my friend hits his, a hook, goes over the hedge marking the out of bounds, finds the ONLY tree in the adjacent farmer's field, clatters into it, then bounces out onto the fairway, he wins the hole, and ends up winning the match

i have to pick up the bill

Playing at Harpenden common, when i started, sliced my drive onto the old A6 (1081) and hit the 321 bus from St Albans. Re loaded same again and hit 321 coming the other way.

Class..

note to self
don't drink juice when reading pat either!!
the keyboard can't take all this spitting!

Playing at rolls of Monmouth managed to push a drive which bounced on an adjacent drive up onto car bonnet roof and the rattled the front door to much amusement of my playing partners!

Hit a tee shot on a short par 3, was sailing well left into the lake until it hit something (to this day I still dont know what) it bounced 35 yards backwards and landed 2 ft from the pin like it was pulled by a magnet.

Hit a wayward 5iron left, still 100yrds left to the hole, gap wedge landed way short, hit frozen pond, shot up in to the air, landed 8ft from the hole and a one putt for a birdie for 4 points.

Same day hit a 350 yard drive after it hit the frozen ground and bounced forward about 80 yards! Only parred that one! Partner did same and chipped in for a net 1 for 5 points!

walked up to the tee, there was about 15 grease about 30 feet in front on fairway so they should have been OK,,,the worst drive i did all day,hit it low into one of the grease ,,the thud noise made me feel quality straight away,,they all just stayed there till we started to walk up towards them, they all walked off with one lagging behind with a limp, i was glad to see him back on is feet,,,i guess i deserved the double Bogey on that hole

anytime i hit a bad one i never get away with it fs, boys i play with get all the luck. best one i seen was when i was out with a mate who is a massive wind-up merchant. we were visitors with a society he teed off in front of a crowd of people hit it dead left bounced off a tree and ended up 60 yards behind the tee box. give him stick about it yet

A mate of mine was playing in the medal. On the first, he hits his tee shot out of the heel of his driver, under a bench 20 yards away, by the ladies tee, on the left hand side. The other two of us were trying not to laugh, but Adam turns towards us, sees us struggling, and shouts 'this is serious!' well, that did it, we were in stitches.

For me, hitting the ladies tee marker on the 11th at my last club in a medal. We all ducked, as the ball spanged back past our heads, and out of bounds behind us.

My half shanked 6i to get inside padraigs shot at carton house was pretty special too. Not an easy shot to pull off.
Especially under pressure.

Reminds my of a story Westwood once recounted ,He was playing in a practise round I think at Wentworth where a player in he`s group incredibly managed to hit their ball into the back of a truck whilst it was moving and it was suggested that the guy that did it would have to play he`s next shot where the truck stopped............

Am I allowed another one? OK then....

Last week I hit a sweet 7 iron onto the middle of the green then watched helpless as a fox ran out, picked up my ball and ran off!
