You have a mate right.........

Perhaps this (ahem) theoretical person wants to have a low handicap as he sees himself doing the courses to become a teaching pro. :mmm:

A few years back I used to play with a guy who played off 4 and at the time I was playing off 16,he beat me most of the time but I actually managed to beat him 3 times just using net scores. The guy got he`s handicap from a 9 hole course but he was proberly more like a 10 handicapper,he`s game never improved but incredibly he became a club pro  believe it or not.He took the exams and basically blagged it and now says he`s got no time to play which covers up he`s ability nicely ;) ,the few times he has played the bad scores are just put down to a "bad day".I`m not going to mention where this guy pro`s but this just goes to show what a bit of BS can do for you..............

....did he ever go on to invent anything?

How can someone who spouts about the swing so much, albeit 1 certain technique,be so pish poor at the game?

Hold on though,I know someone else on here that does much the same but hasn't broken 80 for yonks in competitive play.:smirk:

Part of me says let him stew on single figures and empty his wallet everytime you play him (in your imaginery/hypothetical world of course). I would say he isn't single figures until he puts three cards in and reactivates his handicap on the basis those cards are good enough to warrant that mark. If he really is chopping it round in mid teens and that he has a handicap history to look back on wouldn't the handicap secretary use discretion. For arguments sake if he put cards in and was due to be off 16 and yet history says he was off 6 will they put him on a discretionary figure say 10-11

Even then sounds like he'll never play to it. Take him to the cleaners Smiffy

If he's 6.0 and puts in 3 cards of 18 over he will go up to 6.1, 6.2 then 6.3. That's how it works Homer.
Being inactive doesn't lose your h/cap.. it just freezes in until you become active again.

who plays off 6. Never plays in qualifiers.
Whenever he goes out to play in a friendly Stableford, he very rarely scores 30 points. In fact, he usually scores mid 20's.
Is he truly a 6 handicapped golfer, or just a 14 handicapper in disguise who is having a particularly good day (for a 14 handicapper).
Just a theoretical question like.......

It depends, what type of swing does the guy use?
