What words and phrases really irritate you. You know the ones, the ones that make you angry straight away as soon as you hear someone say it.

A selection of my all time hates include;

"At the end of the day" As far as I'm concerned, I call it evening.

"Touch base" which base are we touching.

"To be fair" huh!!!

"Fairway metal" Another Americanism, we call it a wood.

Any that make you cringe?

"concious decision" - how many unconcious one have you made?

"Going Forward" - so you've been on a Management course....

"With all due Respect" - ie non whatsoever and you're wrong!

On the back of an Energy Co Van - "To aid the Environment this vehicle is limited to 70mph" - So the law's got nothing to do with it then.......

I've got loads more but I've got Man-flu so the brain isn't working - I'll come back later.....

As someone said already, "Touch base"

"Singing from the same hymn sheet"

"For the win"

"To the inch"

"I have to say"

"Chalk it up" - to a pool player who's not even at the table

"Good shot" - when it clearly isn't

"Unlucky" - when it was obviously just crap

"In my humble opinion" - If your opinion was humble you wouldn't give it!

"Go in the hole!"

There must be more, I'll be back :D

Getting pretty fed up with the repetitive use of the word "fair" at the moment.

"in the final analysis"
"At this moment in time"
"To better serve our customers"

Whatever.

And like ……

The incorrect use of where, were, we're and wear. Same goes for the variations of their, there, they're etc.

So!

Just don't go there.

As if.

Yeah, right, no, yeah……

You know what I mean……

Wicked!

I won't go into the reasons for dis-liking any of the above. But let's just say that I don't like them. It's not that I particularly dislike the people that use these phrases. It just makes it harder for me to like them.

"When you've got the John Terrys / Steven Gerrards / Wayne Rooneys of the world" What ? Everyone called John Terry ? It's not the John Terrys of the world, it's one specific John Terry, not feckin all the John Terrys of the world !!

Footballers who start answering a question with "Yeh, no..."
Which is it dumbass ? Yes or No, it can't be both.
