I can’t say I’ve seen the rule, but I’ve only ever read “keep up with the group in front and let anyone behind play through if a clear hole has been lost”.

.

For reference

It is a group's responsibility to keep up with the group in front. If it loses a clear hole and it is delaying the group behind, it should invite the group behind to play through, irrespective of the number of players in that group. Where a group has not lost a clear hole, but it is apparent that the group behind can play faster, it should invite the faster moving group to play through.

I can honestly say that whilst i wouldn't intentionally slow the guys or gals up behind me. As per my previous post. I wouldn't spend my entire round letting group after group go through. Making my round take 6 hours so numerous 2 balls can get round in 3 hours simply isn't going to happen.

I am easy as, but in reality, if a two ball choose to play in a busy time, in the midst of endless 4 balls. That is their choice. It just is. You can't expect to cut through a busy field just because you are a two. Life does not work like that.

Agree. You worded things well last post and this.
I thought I had made a similar observation in this contex rather than challenging yours.

Everyone has different pace be it lifestyle or golf.

So people play at different paces but tend to play with friends that suit their own pace.

What’s gone wrong for me is etiquette is getting lost a bit , if you are holding someone up just let them through as long as you can.

There’s to much selfishness these days.

If the course is rammed then I would not expect to be let through, but if it’s empty ?

But yes there’s a limit to how many games you can let through before it affects your play.

I wasn’t meant to be challenging your post. I didn’t mean for it to appear so.

Was happy to learn the ruling, even if I don’t fully agree with.
