I don't think it matters where in the u.k you are , we are all experiencing some strong winds.
Just looking at tomorrows forecast for medal day, 50mph gusts

So, how do you approach such conditions,
with it being soft too , the low runners are a lottery as you are unsure how the ball will react,
it may jump or just splat, fairways & greens !

I hit a very high ball, i can knock it down but distance control = meh
do you accept you Will score higher, as will many

Do you have a strategy or hit & hope :D

strong wind like that forecast is too much .
i like playing when there is a wind of about ten to fifteen mph.makes the game interesting and gets you playing all sorts of different shots to combat it .
50mph is way too much to even think about leaving the clubhouse unless its for a competition, then its try your best and hit plenty of choked down punch shots.

Guess how many clubs the wind is worth, then take 2 more and use a half swing.

I usually try to land the ball at the front of the green. If it lands short it should just get on, if it lands on it should roll up the the centre.

I'll never take a full swing with an iron into the wind if I think it's worth more than 2 clubs.

Club up, choke down and swing slower and shorter. I'm not a massive fan of playing in wind (as I have a naturally high ball flight with my irons) but enjoy the challenge as long as it doesn't become a lottery

Turkey medal on Sunday, wind forecast at 40mph ish...... played in similar earlier this year and had a 50 pinetree come crashing down beside me as I was putting from the edge of our 10th, missed me by about 10 foot....

I thought that if the winds were too high courses were obliged to stop play because of the danger of wayward balls ?

For the last few days we have been forecast heavy rain and wind gusting at over 50mph for all tomorrow so is has looked pretty bleak. Then, all of a sudden the magic fairy has waved her wand and we have light rain and winds only reaching 20mph between 10am and 3pm so it's game on. That's always assuming someone else turns up wanting a game as my three regular pp's have already cried off.

Only 12-15mph gusting to 23mph so not a big factor tomorrow. Rain my biggest worry but all prepared. If I have to play in strong winds. I was told to just use it and accept into you'll lose distance and play every hole as one more than it says on the card and let the ball ride the wind in crosswinds and downwind. It's not an exact science and sometimes you can hit a great shot and the wind will get up and affect it. That's golf.
