No, he actually got a cut. Index down to 50. CH off the same tees will be 53/54. I think

Just one in winter. 70 players

41. Won by 3.
& that's where the problem lies!! We only get 70 in Summer & have 2 Divs.
Well done to the guy in entering & struggling through crappy playing conditions to submit a Q score.

WHS doesn't work?

That was the OP. Of course it works, we were told so in their blurb. Screenshot_20240206-200005_Chrome.jpg

The fact that it has lead to several thousand posts on this forum alone, makes you wonder?

Is there light at the end of the tunnel?

So. To add a bit more context.

The lad was my son. He’s 13 and it was his first time playing in an individual comp, and the first time he has played off our yellow tees. The course is 6500, it was cold, wet and windy.
He has only previously played our 5600 yard tees and played in a couple of scrambles with me and my regular playing partner.
We were also playing with a complete stranger (who was great company)

His gross was 122, the highest score on any hole was an 11. He tried extremely hard and kept his concentration for the whole round.

It was his 18th counting score for his HI and he beat his previous best differential by 7 shots.

Last weekend he shot over 70 for nine holes. So, he made me take him to the range 3 times during the week where he hit 100s of balls and worked hard on his swing. He really wants to get his index down.

Needless to say he was very proud of himself and we were proud of his effort.

Congrats to the young lad.

Played a 4BBB today and a mate went out point 1.....from 5.6 to 5.7

did not know you can go out in a 4BBB, WHS just keeps on giving.
Well you can shoot a good score but go up, so makes sense. 4BBB counting doesnt of course but that's the mess we're in now

To people who just turn up and get their card pre printed it is just the same.!

But anyone who wants to know how it works then no!
All this for a few people who want to put their holiday scores in!
Is it worth the money that must have been spent on it ?

Pretty sure I said this a couple of thousand posts ago.

My regular 4 ball, don't visit forums like this, only put cards in if its a comp, don't read any of the notes about changes... they couldn't give a monkeys.

I'd love one of the zealots on here to say they are not playing properly. Next stop, dentist!😁😁

Yes I would say 95% of golfers I know don’t care.

Social golf midweek comp on a Saturday.!

99% of golfers have never played a Spaniard or American on their course.

We have 4 or 5 groups of at least a dozen or more who go to Spain, Portugal or Turkey at least once a year. In addition we have umpteen who have holiday homes there or in Florida.

What!!!.... even when they are on their holidays? That's admirable indeed. So many over here only want to do it in Summer, when they have their 'Game-head' on, in a Club Comp & mostly playing Medal off the back tees.
What seems to be getting ignored, or misunderstood, is that the main benefit of WHS comes when you play on other courses within the UK or against players who have gained their HI on other courses.
WHS is a massive improvement!!
Those who never leave the safety of their own Club can just rock-on with anything that works for them as, for them, ignorance is bliss.

We have 3 divisions now div 1 hcp 8 and down , div 2 16 to 8.1 , div 3 16.1 up ..
not sure how it will work out but the biggest prizes are probably div 2 ..
Also the board competitions are more swayed to gross scores.
