I do I do haha first full season coming up for 3 years so cnt wait for some handicap rises :D :p

What have you guys found yourself doing?

Ive been cleaning clubs none stop, tidying my bag out so its in pristine conditions. Marked all my new balls up, new tees gloves etc

I dont know why but i feel this will get me off to a good start. I also find myself constantly looking at equipment thinking which one wud get shots off my game

You have got it bad, usually around March I get the jitters and start the shanks. Now that is a great pre season issue to have to rid yourself of.

Personally I dont class the start of the 'new season' until April, until then im still playing last year's (2010) Winter comp - so my excitement is on hold until then!

Looking forward to playing off proper tees even though some of the newer astroturf ones aren't too bad. Also look forward to playing early mornings before the course starts swarming with OAPs.

Cant wait my course has been open for 2 days in the last 6 weeks then it snowed all weekend and is closed again.Just as well the range is open, awaiting our fixture list so i see what i can play in.

I'll echo Brendy's sentiments.......man, have you got it baaad!

Can't say I've got new season excitement yet, considering I've been working outside most of the day and my testicles have just about come back down!!!

Nope, let's get to March, the first comp of the season. Come late mid to late February I'll start getting some serious swiping done in preparation.

im similar to you, back playing for the first time properly in years, just wish that spring would hurry up and get here, frozen greens sucked the life out of me today :(

I have for sure. New set of bats a new cart bag and just can't wait for the good weather!

My golf pals and I were at our presentation evening last week all discussing our aims for the coming year, even as an old codger I was still excited by the thought of a lower handicap and, who knows, another big cup!

I don't know whats wrong with me, I don't feel excited at all yet. I haven't had a game since late October, the course has only been open a couple of weeks but I can't say im itching to get out there at all. I'm thinking a set of nice shiny new irons will do the trick.

RANT ALERT

I had first comp fever yesterday for the stableford. First event of 2011. We had a heavy frost so the greenstaff put the flags on temps for every hole. Of course the members complained and so they decided to make the booked times 8.00 until 10.00 a separate comp on temps and then once they had defrosted move them back onto proper greens. The roll up section of the stableford wouldn't be able to enter as they'd play a different course. So far so good.

However there we are playing the 15th and I casually look down towards the 16th and it was already on the proper green. By the time we'd played 17 and 18 so were they so some idiot had moved the flags before all the booked times had played through. Turns out some of the last groups had virtually the whole back nine on proper greens.

To compound the problem, someone somewhere let the roll up join in the main competition. In essence there were three separate courses in play (the 18 holes of temps, the few proper holes I played and the majority on proper greens for the roll up). Fortunately it was decreed non-qualifying but they still had winners (eligible for vouchers). Surely they should have declared the whole thing null and void and rolled the pot over into something else. Ludicrous, farcical and unprecedented. This will run and run within the club. Members were not happy.

Made no difference to my ineptitude and 28 points was a fair reflection.

RANT OVER

Ive played twice since November and what happened in those two games just makes me want to cry . Give it till late February early March ill be buzzing for the new season :D

Havent swung a club since October.

Course been closed for weeks and weeks, and probably will be for another week too, judging by the ice/water still on greens.

Hard to find any 'motivation' out of that.

Roll on March/April.

Not playing any qualifying comps until the season start, I made that mistake last season and started the season with 0.8 back over winter.

I am looking forward to the season but changing clubs is on the cards, so a little distracting.

I'm looking forward to a good year. First competition is usually in May at Moortown, will get the dates and venues soon and decide what to play in.
Will start practicing soon. Usually get my wedge play sorted first then work my way up to full shots. Need to change my driver soon as well.
I say every year that i'm going to try and play more but will probably tee it up about 5 times. I do however want to play more friendly games with friends, Gullane next week to start the year off........ :)

Just had confirmation that i will be playing at St Georges Hill again at the end of February. Defending my second place in the guests section of Surrey Chamber of Commerce Golf Society. ;) That has to be the start of the season for me.

I'm with you goldstick, I've got it bad!

I had some problems getting rid of a draw/strong grip lady season and opted to pretty much miss November in favour of lessons and range time. Some major changes in swing and grip basics. After a lay off in December due to the snow my first game was the Thursday between Christmas and new year with another 2 games since and apart from a rusty short game all the swing changes are clicking and my long game is coming back.

Got a real buzz about 2011

New season excitement with this bloody weather??
You must be joking.
Game lined up for thursday and then maybe 3 games next week.
Might start feeling the urge after that.

Our season as far as qualifying comps goes, doesn't start until April.

Rather than looking forward to it, I'm wondering if I'll have my game sorted enough to do myself justice and get some cuts.
